A.N. Been getting back on an Inuyasha kick and this just sorta came to me.

It was when it was quiet, he realized on a warm summer day. When there didn't need to be anything said between them, when he wasn't fighting his dizzying attraction to her and when she looked at him out of the corner of eye and smiled. It was when her fingers found his and squeezed, as if assuring him that she would always be there. It was when she leaned her head on his back and murmured promises that he knew she would always keep. It was when she fumed silently after a spat, and glared at him in quiet rage. It was when she sat beside him on a hill, books surrounding her as she chewed on the end of her pencil. It was when she was talking to all those around her and saying nothing to him, when she looked across the fire at him and her eyes sparkled. It was so many quiet things that she did, so many silent gestures…that was when he knew just how much he loved her. Because 'I love you" just wasn't enough to fill the emotion that burst in his heart.
