A familiar tremor in the force brought a small smile to Obi-Wan's lips.
"Padme, is that you?"
"It always amazes me when you do that." She stepped outside and joined him on the balcony.
He chuckled and drank in the sight of the Senator as she walked to his side. She wore a long, flowing, lavender dress. Strapless. It stirred something in him, she always did. He kept his face passive and forced his hands to stay clasped behind his back.
"It's a lovely night." She whispered, her eyes stared straight ahead, but Obi-Wan didn't think she was actually seeing anything.
"You're troubled."
She sighed and leaned against the railing.
It wasn't a question, and they both knew it. "Sometimes it's annoying how perceptive you are Master Jedi."
"Only for you, M'Lady."
He smirked.
She smirked back.
"It's these negotiations."
"It'll all work out in the end." Obi-Wan replied.
"You know that for sure?" She cocked her head.
"Of course. They don't call me the Negotiator for nothing."
She shook her head, but her eyes were full of laughter.
Without thinking, he moved closer to her, their shoulders almost touching.
He felt something from her in the force, something different than her normal affection. "I like your hair." She blurted.
He raised an eyebrow.
She laughed. "I'm serious. I like it shorter. It reminds me of how you looked when we first met."
"Well, thank you. I like your hair as well."
She laughed again. It made him feel things he had so long tried to ignore.
"Obi-Wan, look!" She pointed towards the sky. A bright light, surrounded by red sparks, streaked across the horizon. "A falling star." She breathed. "Don't you think it's beautiful?"
Obi-Wan found his eyes drawn back to her. "Yes." He whispered. "I do."
"We should do this more often." Padme sighed.
"Stand on balconies?" He quipped.
She placed her hand on his forearm. "Talk about nothing. Watch falling stars. I feel more relaxed than I have in days."
"I'd like that." He found himself replying.
"How about tomorrow night? Same time, same place."
"I'll be here, M'Lady."
"I know you will."
