"… so you've memorized the list and the meanings?"

"I have."

"And you've done the grammatical exercises I gave you over the weekend?"

"I have placed all the words into grammatically correct sentences." Teal'c answered with a nod.

"You have your own list of words containing more than three syllables?"

"And have placed these also in sentences."

"Have you run these through the automatic translation program on the SCG search engine at least four times, and noted the final resultant words and phrases?"

"Indeed, I have DanielJackson, though should I not use the equine metaphor once more?"

"No, no, Teal'c! Jack is becoming somewhat at ease with that one! We need something that he will have to think hard about."

"What about 'spilt milk'?"

"Too difficult to incorporate."

"Too many cooks…?"

"Too common."

"Hen's teeth?"

"Brilliant! I'll translate it into Arabic, then we can run it through the translator - via Japanese and Russian, before re-translating it to English! That should mangle it suitably!"

"Would not Captain Carter be offended to discover the use we are putting to her machine?"

"Who? Sam? … No I don't think so. Not when she comes to appreciate the benefits!"

Teal'c regally inclined his head. "You have my deepest gratitude for your assistance in learning the ways of the Tau'ri, DanielJackson."

"Oh, really Teal'c, you are helping me more than anything else. You would have learned our idioms without my assistance!"

"Of that I am sure! However, you have made the learning of the complex and diverse meanings of Tau'ri statements and sayings much more enjoyable than I would have imagined was possible!"

Daniel just smiled.

"So, shall we head off to the briefing? You have the necessary sentences memorized?"

"Indeed, DanielJackson! Undomesticated equines could not prevent my attendance!"

"Okay! So when Jack gets particularly annoying during my section of the briefing …"

"I shall ask for the clarification of a point of particular interest to me, using at least three of my list words and one of the much translated sentences, being sure to utilize a mangled idiom to round off the question."

"Excellent!" Daniel beamed at Teal'c over his glasses as they left his lab, "Excellent!"
