Doppelgangers

Chapter 1: Introduction

"How's it working out down there?" Jeremy's voice echoed through the icy world. "They're only prototypes, you know."

"They work great!" Odd exclaimed as he shot a Kankrelat. "Bull's-eye!"

"How did you even manage to do this?" Yumi asked after slicing through a Hornet's head with her fans. "They fight just like the real things."

"I have my ways."

"Of course. He's Einstein!" Ulrich commented while dashing though a cluster of Bloks. "This is great. Now we can practice whenever we want."

"This is impressive work." Aelita said as a pink aura shot from her hand, destroying a Krabe. "I couldn't have done it better myself."

"Thanks. I'm bringing you guys back no-"

"What the heck is that!?" Odd's voice shot out of the speakers, almost knocking Jeremy out of his seat.

"What is what? There isn't anything on my screen." He frantically searched the map to be sure. "What's going on?" The four warriors' markers disappeared from the monitor and Jeremy had no clue what was happening. "W-where'd you go?" He immediately jumped into the elevator and took it down to the scanner room. "Are you guys..." Jeremy stopped as he noticed his friends were emerging from the scanners. "...okay?"

"I don't feel too hot." Odd mentioned before leaning against the wall for support.

"What happened to you?" Jeremy asked worriedly as he approached them.

"I only saw it fora split second. I don't really know what it was."

"It caught all of us by surprise. Odd was the only one who saw it." Ulrich said, weakly. "I feel like it took something out of us."

"We agree." Yumi and Aelita said in unison.

"Well, that's strange. Let's go check-" Just as everyone started leaving, the scanners reopened. "What the..." Four bodies tumbled out and laid, unmoving, on the floor. "This just keeps getting more weird." Jeremy stepped toward the bodies and they all suddenly started getting up.

"Whoa, that was fun!" A girl with short, blond hair exclaimed.

"fun? We don't even know what happened!" A tall boy with black hair mentioned.

"Oh, man. That was just weird." A brown-haired girl commented.

"That's probably the most interesting experience I've ever gone through." A boy with red hair said. "Where are we?"

"Um... You're in a factory near Kadic Academy." Jeremy answered. He observed the mannerisms of the group. They seemed familiar.

"Doesn't ring a bell." The blond girl said, cheerfully. "I don't know where we are, or what happened, but I think I'm going to like this place."

"No way." The boy with black hair cut in. "I don't know what's going on but, we can't stay here!"

"Calm down, all of you. First things first. Can you give us your names?" Jeremy pointed at them as he asked.

"Why should we tell you?" The brunette asked, skeptically. "Tell us yours first."

"Well, alright. I'm Jeremy."

"I'm Aelita. Nice to meet you."

"The names Odd."

"Ulrich."

"And I'm Yumi. So who are you?"

"To tell you the truth... We don't know our names." The Lyoko gang's eyes widened in astonishment.

"You don't know your own names? What, did you hit you heads or something?" Odd curiously aproached one of them.

"Maybe... We don't know our names and we don't know where we came from. All we know is that we woke up here."

"All right. That cements it!" Jeremy blurted out. "I have a theory!"
