Sam set the last box down in his dorm room. He had decided to stop hunting. So he was going back to prelaw. He'd finish that, go to law school, become a lawyer. That woukd be that. No more hunting. Dean had Cass back. The two could hunt together. Everything was as normal as normal got. Only person Sam wished wasn't dead was Gabriel. Sam could except every other death he'd face. But Gabriel's was too much. It was time to move on though. That was part of the reason Sam had decided to stop hunting.
Sam stretched, his back popping. He bent over to start unpacking when the doorbell rang.
Curious, Sam went over to the door and opened it. There was no one there but in front of the door was a plate with a cupcake on it. Sam picked up the plate and looked down the hall both ways to see who left it but no one was there.
Sam wondered why someone had left a cupcake on his doorstep but shrugged it off. He headed back inside, eating the cupcake. It was really good.
The next day Sam came home from initiation to find a cupcake on his doorstep. He picked it up, wondering who had left it.
For the next two weeks, everday Sam would either come home to a cupcake waiting for him or anwser the door after the doorbell was rang and find a cupcake.
He started noticing a pattern. The person always rang the doorbell at the exact same time.
So Sam came up with a plan.
He waited by the door two minutes before 4, watching his watch. 4pm was always when the person rang the doorbell. So now he was waiting for the moment to spring. As soon as it was 30 seconds before 4 he threw open the door.
Sam stared at the person who was crouching to place the cupcake down. The person had frozen the second Sam opened the door. Sam recognized the light brown hair that was a bit long and slicked back. He recognized the olive green jacket. He knew who was right in front.
"Hi," Sam said, crossing his arms and sounding upset.
"Hiiiii," The person slowly stood up. They had not expected to be caught by Sam.
"Gabriel" Sam wanted anwsers.
Gabriel stood there for a moment then bolted.
Sam jumped over the abandoned cupcake and ran after Gabriel.
Gabriel ran outside and almost got ahead but Sam jumped over the stair railing and tackled Gabriel. The two landed in a pile of leaves. Sam had his arms around Gabriel tightly. Gabriel squirmed, trying to get free but it was no use.
"I thought you were dead, you jerk!" Sam shouted, "And instead of telling me you were alive you kept me in the dark!"
"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! Please don't kill me!" Gabriel responded.
"I'm not going to kill you," Sam muttered, burying his face in Gabriel's neck.
Gabriel stopped struggling. "What are you doing?"
"I love you, jerk. I stopped hunting and came back to prelaw because you were dead and I couldn't keep going on like that was okay amd I could still hunt," Sam mumbled.
Gabriel realized that he had hurt Sam, "Sam... can you forgive me?"
"Of course Gabriel," Sam anwsered.
Gabriel smiled softly, then turned around in Sam's arm and kissed him.
Sam was startled but relaxed into the kiss.
Sam still needed time to recover from the horrors of hunting. But he had Gabriel now. Everything would be okay.
