Hunger Games Fan Fiction
(Based on Rue's Death)
When the spear plunged into Rue, Time stopped for Katniss… Everything was slow, From the arrow piercing Marvel's neck to the blood dripping from Rue's once dirt grey jacket. Katniss threw the bow to the side as she dropped to her knees before Rue.
"Katniss.", Katniss lifted her, cradling her in her arms "Hush now..." Tears streaming down her face. "You're going to be okay".
Rue looked up at her with her big brown eyes, shining in the sunlight. "It's okay, I'm going to see mama soon." Katniss smiled at her more tears trickling down her cheek. Rue let out a gasp of air "Sing for me?"…
Katniss, holding back the tears, shakily sang to her watching as Rue slipped away… Katniss's beautiful voice and words became distant. Light surrounded Rue's vision, the pain faded away and she was gone.
Katniss looked down at Rue's lifeless eyes and her limp body, Katniss's scream broke the silence of the arena and the 12 districts watching, all she could her was her pained heart beating, She tore at the grass, tugging at her hair. Katniss lifted Rue's fragile tiny body and placed it under a newly bloomed tree, she picked flowers placing them around her. And sang her favorite song one last time before kissing her ice cold cheek.
"Goodnight sweet angel" She turned to the hovercraft approaching, She kissed her three main fingers and rose them to the camera and shouted "For Rue!" causing all twelve distant to raise their hands in harmony.
