Tris was bored. This was not an uncommon thing for her, as she lived in Abnegation, which (in her opinion) was the most boring of the factions. Her parents, though she adored them greatly, were helping people out or working. Tris had finished school for the day and sat reading in a window seat. She wanted to help out and fit in but she didn't have the skill neither the energy. So she sat and read a history book on the factions, trying to understand why such a bizarre method had been put in place to keep order, but she couldn't.
In the end her mind drifted into a daydream that is until her older brother Caleb came in. Sometimes Tris would feel jealous of her brother and his skills with helping people, but she knew jealousy was selfish and she couldn't possibly feel that way to fit in abnegation.
"Tris" began Caleb, pulling the said person out of her trail of thought. "Do you feel like you belong here?"
"What do you mean?" enquired Tris. Caleb belonged in Abnegation. He was liked and he fitted in. He was selfless, helpful and caring, even to the factionless.
"Nothing" he replied gazing into a particular spot in the room he had suddenly found rather interesting. "Don't worry, see you at dinner".
Tris, now thoroughly perplexed, sat back and asleep into a pleasant nap.
