Second Anna fic! I've finished the book and cannot wait for the sequel to come out in paperback here; this is in no way related to All that I am my other Anna fic. Please review this story and if you like it I recommend the fic mentioned above. This is set- hopefully it's obvious- after the epic end of Anna Dressed in Blood. Thank you for reading this story and please don't be scared to drop me a line.

Roses of Meaning
Three roses. One red, one white and one yellow. When the people come to lay the roses it's always together, they seem to be comforting one another and the boy with the white rose always looks distant, as if lost in his own thoughts and feelings. They never stay long, usually only for a few minutes but each of them talk, whispering so quietly that only the wind catches what they say. When they leave the boy with the white rose always looks back, longingly, before his friends call him and they aren't seen until a few weeks later. If anyone had taken interest in the grave they would have seen it was the grave of Anna Korlov, the girl who was murdered several years ago.
Each rose tells a story. The three friends are the only ones who know, but to them that's enough.
The girl always brings a yellow rose. The three friends know it stands for the future the girl never had. It's to represent the fact that the girl never grew up. She was trampled and trodden down and taken away before her true light could shine. It represents the future the girl could've, would've had, if she had only been given the chance to fly.
The smaller, weedier looking boy always brings a red rose. The friends know that the dead girl was ashamed of her past and fully believed that she should be punished. The rose represents those who had fallen because of the girl, but it also shows that they forgive her. They can't whitewash her past but the rose is there to say that, because of her past, what she did for them in the end was even more special.
The taller, stronger looking boy always brings a white rose. This is because the group know that the dead girl was still innocent. She never meant to become what she became, she was never meant to die. She was a victim. The group firmly believe that the last act she did, one of kindness and sacrifice, had cleansed her spirit. She became an innocent 16-year old girl whose life was cut short by a single selfish act.
The three friends hope that her spirit is free at last, because if they dwell on reality and what she is possibly facing now, they know that it will break them and they know the girl wouldn't want them to break.
