"Hey, Magnus. Come over here." I beckoned with my hand to where I was standing.
"Coming, darling."
I sighed. "For the thousandth time, please don't call me that."
He sighed loudly, as if not calling me darling was the worst thing that had ever happened to him. "Please, dar- I mean- Alec?"
That sent shivers up my spine. His voice could say anything beautifully. I couldn't resist it. "Fine."
"Thank you, darling. I love you." He stared at me, as if waiting for me to say something. I didn't.
I soon grew uncomfortable as his eyes rested on me. He looked at my face, my eyes, my hair, my lips, my body- "Um, could you look at this?"
Three seconds after I said that, he broke his stare and looked away. "Of course. What is it, darling?"
I showed him the rune I was working on, on my arm. The stele picture on my upper forearm almost matched the one on the picture Clary had drawn for me. "Does that look off to you?"
He looked at my arm. "Hmm," he said, tracing it with his fingertips. I shivered. He pulled away. "I suppose it does. Its just an arm. Although the freckles do sort of make a sort of odd shape-"
"Magnus. The rune."
"Oh." Was all my boyfriend said before he looked again, in a new way. "It gives me a feeling that this rune means something important."
I almost laughed. Almost. Magnus could spot important from a mile away. "Yeah, it is." Imet his gaze. Now he shivered. I chuckled and moved closer. I lowered my voice as I said, "Clary drew it for me. It is the rune that means 'Forever'. I wanted you to always be with me, so I plan to re-make it on me whenever it fades."
His green eyes bored into my gaze. He stroked my face and said, simply, "Darling."
