It was an interesting thought. In Ancient times the existence of demigods had be no secret. But now? In the 21st century very few mortals knew of the existence of demigods. Sure, it could be explained away as people just not believing in the Greek gods but that couldn't be the only reason. The child of Athena kept thinking and decided to go ask Chiron.
She walked to The Big House and went into Chiron's office.
"Hello, Annabeth. How can I help you?"
"Hi, Chiron. Why don't we tell mortals about us?"
The centaur glanced at her questioningly.
"Wouldn't it be better if we had their help?"
"Lots of demigods run away from home and come here."
Annabeth didn't get it at first. Then she remembered. It was illegal to harbor a run away. She realized that Camp Half-Blood could be made to look like a bad thing. Could be made to look like a kidnapping ring. That's why most mortals didn't know about them. There would be some that would turn them over to the authorities. And it wouldn't do them any good to not have Chiron to help the demigods learn how to defend themselves from any kind of monsters that existed.
