"I'm sitting here... dying."

-

It's funny, this thing called death... not hilariously so, rather, strange-funny, bizzare, I-can-believe-this-is-happening-I-am-not-ready-to-die-choke-sob-whimper...

In fatally wounded animals, it is considered kinder for humans to put them down, out of their misery.

Silly things, these same humans so prolong the deaths of their own injured, for in their hypocrisy, they treat death as a cruel thing for their own.

-

You can't cry, little animals, not like us, not like us.

-

...don't dare beg for a second chance, don't feel regretful...

-

you

want to die.

-

Humans don't want to die. Some where deep within, at their very core, they feel it means they cease to exist, and to lose the individual in the great never-ending.

-

"I'm dying. I wish I could see her one last time before I go. Before I die... I'd like to see her blue eyes just one more time."

-

So tell me your True Wish, pretty one.

She knew, as she drew closer, that he'd have the dreadedlast regrets... Beautiful, serious, dying Alfeegi... his precious life leaking out onto the floor, his sharp eyes clouded with the spell of peace she cast. Oh, Reema's job had never been so hard. Transforming into the Dragon Queen Raseleane was all that she could do for him now.

All that she ever really could.

-

Can you imagine it?

-

The

never-

ending?

-

Try, friend, try to imagine her shock-surprise-what-does-does-he-I-can't-believe-whirling hope and fear. When he told her he'd much rather see the real her... that it was her that Alfeegi, lovely White Dragon Officer, Truly Wished to see.

-

And...the guilt.

-

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I couldn't do more."

-

"Seeing you has put me at peace. My only fear... was that I might die without seeing you again."

-

You're right, they don't feel as you do.

Animals quietly accept their deaths, knowing it to be just another stage of their existence. Maybe they have already reached the never-ending.

Maybe they haven't.

-

...Reema had never oncec onsidered-hoped-wished against- (for- maybe a little?)- he would go the same way... but those she led into death were noble ones, and Alfeegi was of the noblest.

-

"Until now, my life has brought nothing but sorrow, and I have only experienced sorrow in return."

-

...never-ending...

-

"I'm a Fairy of Death."

-

Blinking away the memories, Reema finished up her work. Nodding to Duma, she hurried the myriad halls of the...the what?... her destination was clear in her mind.

Coming to a skidded stop in front of her room, she tossed open the doors. Alfeegi was waiting for her.

-

"But I'm not saying goodbye to everyone. The one I care for most will be at my side."

-

Doors?

To where?

-

Only she knows.
