Vengeance

A.N: Two missing moments from The Desert, after Aang struck down the buzzard wasp, and then when Aang discovered the sandbenders who had taken Appa away. Rated T for safety. Drabblish.

Disclaimer: I don't own Avatar: The Last Airbender

He had broken an airbender rule, yet he didn't care. With Appa gone, Aang felt like he had lost a massive part of himself and that space was filled with so much anger that initially surprised the airbender, until he grew used to it.

But this… this was different. Callous killings in cold-blood weren't right and he knew it. Not only had he lost his lifelong friend in this desert, but he had also lost his ways.

What would Gyatso say about this?

Feeling ashamed with his late mentor's face in his mind, Aang faced away from the fallen animal. His eyes caught the movement of the other buzzard wasps attacking his friends and with gritted teeth, he pushed the thought out of his mind and made his way back to the onslaught.

Never had he been so angry, so full of hatred ever before in his life as he did now, standing before the group of sandbenders. He watched as the pathetic son whined his unconvincing lies and such rage reared up in his throat he almost gagged on it.

Idly, he wondered if Zuko felt like this on a daily basis. He pitied the firebender; although he had caused much trouble to Aang and his friends, Aang felt as though Zuko had not chosen his path, but rather had been forced into it.

However, these clear, slightly-more-positive thoughts gave way to an intense wave of anger that he drowned in immediately as he heard Toph's words. He could no longer direct his rage at the sand-sailers.

His eyes glowed white; his tattoos too as he turned towards the fiends.

"You muzzled Appa?!"

A.N: There we go. The Desert is one of my favourite episodes because it showed that even Aang had a dark side… I really like being able to explore it a little more, even if it wasn't my best work.

Reviews are nice.
