James Potter, the sweetheart of nearly every girl in Hogwarts. But certainly except for one, and as you all know that was of course Miss Lily Evans. The smart and polite Miss Evans that would lash out like a lion once provoked (being the Gryffindor that she is) and Potter certainly knew how to provoke her. She was a nice girl. Again, as you all know Mr Potter was unfortunate enough to be in love with a girl who despised him at first but then slowly began falling in love with his foolish actions.
This is the beginning of a series of stories circulating around Lily and James's blossoming relationship. Enjoy.
James Potter could hear his History of Magic teacher droning on in the background but he was blocking out all information. Last minute revision with Sirius and Remus would be enough to pass the test anyway, he thought. Absent-mindedly he was carving 5 letters into the old, wooden desk with the rough end of his quill- E, V, A, N, S.
Lily looked over at Potter, he wasn't focused on what Professor Brassroot was saying at all… as usual. He was busy vandalising school property… as usual. What wasn't usual however was that Lily just couldn't seem to stop herself from staring at Potter these days, only when he wasn't looking of course. She observed the slightest things about him. The way his shoulders hunched when he sat behind a desk, the way his brows furrowed in concentration during tests, the way he'd turn his quill round and round in-between his fingers when he was bored. … And the way he would stare at Lily thinking she didn't know what he was doing. Suddenly Lily realised she also wasn't focusing, but Professor Brassroot seemed to have stopped talking.
The Professor was looking straight at James Potter who was still working on the desk.
"Mr Potter?" said Professor Brassroot in an eerily monotone voice but Potter was too occupied to hear him. The Professor started walking towards Mr Potter's desk and stopped right in front of it. The situation was starting to get hilarious with most of the students sniggering, James Potter just seemed completely unaware of his surroundings. Sirius Black wishing to free his best friend of further humiliation and nudged him hard in the ribs.
"Ouch! Why'd you do that for?" Potter asked Black with a pained look on his face. He soon noticed the shadow upon his desk and looked up to see Professor Brassroot glaring down at him. James tried to cover up the carving he'd made in the desk but it was too late.
"Well Mr Potter," said the Professor whilst looking at the carving, "perhaps if you were more interested in your learning as much as you were interested in Miss Evans, she'd be more interested in you" finished the Professor with an amused spark in his eyes.
James turned a beetroot red and looking straight at Lily who also matched his colour but fortunately Professor Brassroot was nice enough to dismiss the class. James watched as Lily quickly packed her books and hurried out of the classroom. Sirius was laughing hysterically beside James till he wacked him with his book on the back of his head. He would have to stay away from Evans's way for a while… It would just be too embarrassing to admit the cheesiness of his actions.
