She had always been like him. The day he saw those thestrals, nobody but she would believe that they were there. When he heard the voices in the Department of Mysteries' archway, she was the only one who heard them with him.
She, like him, had lost her mother at a young age. Most of the time, she seemed distant. He did not know what she was thinking, but he always wondered.
When she held his hand to comfort him because of Sirius's death...her hand felt warm...
Oh, no. He didn't like her. Not for more than a friend, anyway.
Because there was no way they would be together. JK Rowling just didnt approve of it.
"Oh. Harry." he heard her solemn voice call out. He jerked his head and saw 'Loony' Lovegood.
"Er?" he replied.
"Harry," he said, "I was wondering...has my patronus improved?"
He did not know why he was staring into her face. Was it that he never realized that she was so pretty? Her eyes matched his, and she had a pretty, pretty face, even though she wore all those...clothing.
"Harry?" she called out.
"Uh...Oh," he finally snapped out of it. "Yeah, Luna, it has."
Suddenly, she took two steps closer than their already-close position. Harry gulped. What was he feeling nervous about?
She looked up into his eyes. His into hers. And he was ready to give in to her...
"Harry, you have dirt on your face," she said, wiping her cheek with her sleeve. "See?" and she showed him the dirty stain on her sleeve.
"O-oh..." he stammered, "Thanks, Luna..."
"Well, I'd better get going," she mumbled, "I've got to find the things I've lost again. See you, Harry."
"Er...yeah." he told her and waved goodbye as he watched her skip towards her common room.
He knew that there was no chance. Not because JK Rowling didn't want it...
It was just because.
Oh no, he didn't like her. Not for more than a friend, anyway.
He did, though, for a moment.
