Rachel sat at the edge of her bed, looking out the window into the streets of Gotham. Her clock barley marking 3: 01 a.m. Lizbeth was still soundly asleep in the bed next to hers. Today was their 10th birthday, and their dad wasn't even home. He was, as usual, patrolling the streets with Damian. Rachel sighed and looked down at her drawer, where her Robyn costume was folded neatly. Ever since her father had become Batman, he seemed to spend less time with them, and her mother was also rarely home, since she was chairwoman of The Justice League. She usually spent her time with Jesse, who was currently too interested in boys to even call Rachel from time to time. Lizbeth was the one who was always there for Rachel, always making her laugh and making her happy. But today was different, she wanted to feel the warmth of her parents hugging her again, the joy of her parents singing "happy birthday" and bringing them breakfast in bed. Rachel knew this would be hard to get again, 5 years ago; she was the happiest 5 year old in the world. She loved when her mother and father had hugged her and Liz when they had come back from time traveling.
Time Traveling.
Rachel quickly walked over to Lizbeths bed, and shook her awake.
"Liz, Lizzy wake up!" Rachel sat on the bed next to her sister.
"Rachel, its 3: 05 in the morning! What!" Lizbeth sat up tiredly and rubbed her eyes.
"Aren't you kinda sad that mom and dad aren't even home for our birthday?"
"It's not the first time, and Kelly always brings us cookies and cards, why do you ask?" Lizbeth yawned and stretched her arms.
"Well, remember that 5 years ago, you used that time traveling spell to take us back when mom and dad were younger?" Rachel swept a bang from her face to the side.
"Yeah, I was still a beginner in magic; we stayed for almost a week, why?"
"I was hoping, that maybe we can call the Team and we can, y'know, do it again?"
"Why would you wanna do that?" Lizbeth swung her legs over the side of the bed to get up.
"I miss mom and dad, I wanna see them again, like they were when we were 5, if you can take us back in time, and I can still see dad as Nightwing, and I can still see Uncle Conner alive, and I can see Grandpa be ok and healthy, I would be happy" Rachel's voice cracked at the end.
Lizbeth put her arms around her sister. Lizbeth knew how hard it was for Rachel when Dad had told her that he was going to become Batman, and that he would be less time at home. Rachel looked up to him and loved him so much. Lizbeth had felt the same way when her mom had told her that she was the new chairman of the league, and that she would be home less often. The death of Uncle Conner was surprisingly impacting on both of their lives, they had seen him fall at the hands of Superboy Prime, and it wasn't easy to get the image of their dead uncle lying in a pool of blood out of their heads.
And it would be a while until they saw their Grandpa fully healthy again, his spine had been broken, and he's been in recovery for what seems like a long time.
"Ok, ok, just for you, as a birthday present, I'll take us back in time, call the Team" Lizbeth stroked her crying sisters hair.
"Liz?" Rachel asked, wiping a tear away from her face.
"yes?" Rachel asked, getting up to wake Kelly.
"Thank you"
