A Quiet Moment

Thinking back on the years, we were so very young. Nothing could stop us. Both on very different missions, fighting so very hard to remain a part while on intertwining paths. I was so stubborn, steadfast in the distance I had so easily put between us. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if you never pursued. Then I laugh and remember…

You're not the type to quit.

Because of your relentless pursuit, I no longer look back on the past as something I would like to forget. You helped me navigate the murky waters of my soul to find the best parts of me… Now I can see where I came from and be happy in the fact I made it out alive and part way sane.

Those dark parts; the ones that threatened to consume me have been trumped by the love that you show me each and every day. You parted my doubts so easily and it still confuses me how you managed to slip inside and claim every inch of me for yourself before I even realized it was happening.

Though… Secretly, I believe I might have always belonged to you.

I Love You, 'Ru. Happy Anniversary.

Crimson eyes clouded as the letter was laid haphazardly atop the bedside table. A delicate touch cleared the unshed tears as the tawny haired woman turned and observed the slumbering figure wrapped tightly in layers of sheets beside her. Exhausted from conquest, her lover had been devoured and left to recapture her strength through hibernation.

Leaning over, copper strands danced along the bare back and shoulders of the dark haired woman who was curled into a perfect ball. From her throat rumbled a soft groan of disapproval at being stirred, and she nestled further into the protection of the covers.

The simple, yet adorable reaction brought an instant smile to the blonde's face. She brought those upturned lips to the sensitive flesh of her lover's neck, kissing tenderly in various places until the woman was lightly squirming beneath her. Crimson caught a flash of jade before they retreated behind heavy lids. Something resembling an actual human language was murmured but not fully understood, causing Shizuru to chuckle quietly.

"I Love You, Natsuki." She whispered into her love's ear, brushing the shell with her nose.

A toothy, sleepy little grin appeared on the slumbering woman's lips cutely exposing the tips of her canines. Blindly she reached from under the covers, searching for something. After a second she grasped Shizuru's hand and pulled her while rolling, bringing her to snuggle up right against her back. With a content sigh she scooted back, relishing in the instant warmth provided by her other half.

"Mm. I Love you too, Ru." She mumbled sleepily.

Smiling in the darkness, Shizuru felt her heart skip a beat. Closing her eyes she took in a deep breath, and wrapped around her lover.

"Now go to sleep…"
