A/N: Guess I'm in the minority – I liked Lori Weston, Jenna Kaye and Lt. Cmdr. Joe White – so, based on what the writers have said thus far, this is how I see 'what happened next'. Call it an OCV – Off Camera Vignette.
Spoilers: Ki'ilua, I Helu Pu, Pu'olo
Lori Weston sighed as she lugged her bags out of the apartment toward her car. Like her arrival on this island, there was no one to help her. It was a solo effort.
'At least I travel light,' she joked to herself as she opened the back tailgate of her SUV and tossed in her bags.
Truthfully, she had never expected this job would last. Especially after she told Steve she started to 'let things slide,' much to the irritation of the Governor.
Well, he made good on his threat that 'someone would have to pay' for Five-O's maverick actions. And that someone logically had to be the one who was supposed to keep Five-O in check.
But Lori had decided long ago that she wouldn't keep Steve or the others 'in check'. She didn't want to. She, like the other members of the team, came to believe that they doing the right thing – what was best.
And the axe had to fall somewhere.
'Better on me than someone else on the team,' she thought as she turned around and headed toward the driver side door. She would miss working with them, though, especially Steve.
'So many lost opportunities,' she thought wistfully. 'Oh well, it's all your fault, you know,' she chided herself silently.
She didn't look up to see the petite brunette pointing the silenced pistol at her stomach.
Lori's eyes flew open as she instantly took in the threat standing in front of her. 'Too late,' her mind told her.
"Wo Fat would like to talk to you," Jenna said simply, keeping the gun trained on her stomach. A gut shot was an agonizing way to die.
'And if I refuse?' Lori said defiantly. In her mind she knew it was pointless to say this, but she couldn't just cave in to the threat without some kind of response.
"That would be unfortunate, as I would have to shoot you and leave your lifeless body here next to your packed car," she said in a cold unemotional voice. Jenna Kaye wanted Lori to know that despite her bravado, she really didn't have a choice.
Dying here would just leave Steve and the others with another puzzle to solve…at least this way I might get a chance to find out more about Jenna Kaye and Wo Fat…and possibly help the team one last time….
"All right," she said feigning resignation.
"Come with me, please." The 'please' was said without a hint of a smile.
As Jenna took Lori's arm and led her toward a dark SUV that had pulled up next to hers, Lori promised herself that she would, when the time was right, make her move.
As Lori and Jenna got into the SUV, Lt. Commander Joe White lowered his binoculars, and started his car with the intention of following them.
