The Rescue

„Ninetails!", she screamed, bursting into tears.

Arcanine ran faster. He was scared if he would be there in time. Shooting a glance to his left he saw a cliff and down that cliff was a raging river. On the other side, too far to jump, Ninetails buckled(1).

Arcanine sped up, he was nearly at the bridge. A sharp turn and gigant paws thudded over wooden panels. He ran as fast as he could. Almost there.

He arrived the very same moment as Ninetails limp body as tossed over the ground. After her came the opposing Golem, willing to finish her off.

It was just a few steps away when Arcanine jumped between the fighting Pokémon. He ripped his jaws wide open to unleash an outrageous roar. Golem stopped in his tracks.

Besides the sobbing girl noone made a noise.

Arcanine tensed up, ready to attack. He watched his foe closely and moved in an instant as the other twitched. Fast as lightning and with all his might Arcanine dashed foreward, giving Golem a the Rock-Pokémon was about to use waltz it was not able to see and therefore dodge the attack.

Again the giant dog tackled the stone ball, pushing to nearer towards the cliff.

This is for Ninetails! A last hard slam sent Golem over the edge into the watery depths.

„Ninetails! Oh no! Someone help!", Arcanine turned to see a young woman bending over the wounded Pokémon. She seemed so helpless.

He snorted and began trotting towards them. The girl – Kessy- was a lousy trainer but had a good heart, like her Ninetails.

She owned a daycare and whenever there was a Pokémon in need or without home she took it in. Many trainers visited her to maybe find a Pokemon there where looking for and if Pokémon and trainer fitted together she would let them go.

Arcanine lay down next to Ninetails giving her a soft nudge with his nose.

A couple of years ago Kessy found a lost and ailing Growlithe. She found him.

He had gotten lost during the Growlithe Police Training and noone had noticed brought him home, gave him food and left him under Ninetails loving care.

Ninetails.

Arcanine looked down at her bruised face. His trainer arrived a while ago and tended the foxes wounds and cuts.

She had nursed the small Growlithe so well back then. Every night she had let him snuggle close to her and he did, digging his snout in her smooth fur.

Lost in memories the big dog did not notice the slight tremor which went through her body. Neither did he hear her faint voice.

Acarnine...?, she whispered ever so soft.

Ninetails opened her eyes to see savior, the once fragile Growlithe, lying there as strong and proud Arcanine. She felt proud that this was due to her and her endless encouragement, that he had been able to follow his dream.

Her paw reached out to touch his. Startled Arcanines glance met hers.

Thank you., the words did not mean as much to him as her gleaming eyes full of love for him.

Acanine rose to his full hight. He as so glad that Ninetails was alive. Turning to his trainer he bared his fangs to signalize his willingness to train hard.

I have to follow my dream. The dream of beingstrong and able to protect my loved ones!

Hi =) As you might have noticed this is just a very short story which popped into my mind. Let me know if you like it or not and weather you find tons of mistakes or just a couple of them. The first one might be the word buckled. I marked it with (1) because im not quite sure if I used it right O.o

Anyways. Thanks for reading the story and have a nice day ;)
