Karkat loved Dave's car. He wasn't quite sure what it was about it; It was a pretty shitty car after all. It was old, nearly enough so that it could be considered vintage, and it was so badly worn that when Dave went over 60 it seemed like it was going to fall apart. The engine wasn't in bad shape though. Having a brother who specialized in mechanics had it's perks. Karkat really couldn't put his finger on why he adored the faded leather seats, or why he didn't mind the smell of smoke left behind by it's previous owner. He just did.
This night in question, Dave had driven them to one of those ironic drive in movies, not that Karkat really minded romantic cliches. Karkat felt like he never wanted to forget the feeling of his arm around his shoulder, and the warmth and comfort that came with it. He wanted to stay like that forever, even though the center console was digging into his side. He looked up at Dave's face, stoic and concentrated on the movie, remarking to himself how beautiful he looked in the dim light.
Dave turned and smiled at him faintly, moving his hand up to Karkat's cheek as he pulled him into a kiss. Karkat's heart fluttered as he kissed back eagerly, before pulling back and giving Dave a shy smile of his own.
"Should we move this to the back seat?" Dave asked, suggestively raising his eyebrows. Karkat nodded, even though in that moment he realized he didn't really care. Because, shitty car or the face of the sun, Karkat didn't care, as long as Dave was with him there was nowhere he'd rather be.
"I like where we are
When we drive in your car
I like where we are here
Cause our lips can touch
And our cheeks can brush
Our lips can touch here"
