Forth Age

Gondor

King Elessar looked over the horizon, searching for his son's life form, but nothing approached, nothing but the wind blowing on his face.

The king entered his palace, and his guards could see how his cheeks became paler each day, as every day still brought no news of the prince Eldarion, who was missing.

His wife Arwen, last Queen of Gondor, died last year, as she could not stand the grief anymore, as hope faded away, of the loss of her son, her only son.

King Elessar wandered through his palace, seeking for a ray of hope, a ray of light and relief to his heart. All he wanted was at least to know if his son was dead or alive.

It had been close to four years, and the Prince had not yet been found.

Lord Faramir noticed how fast the health of his lord and friend was failing. He learned from the king's guards that he did not eat or rest, as he should.

Lord Faramir sent letters to Ithilien and to the Glittering Caves. He thought that if his friends would come, Aragorn would feel better, and the color might return to his cheeks.

They did not have long to wait before his friends came.

The king fell on his friends as he told them what had happened; the loss and grief seemed finally to give him release as he cried upon them.

Legolas and Gimli comforted him, and then with the help of Faramir, they led him back to his bed, to let sleep claim him.

They glanced from the doorway as the king rested, and he seemed peaceful in his sleep.

Gimli closed the door, as Legolas walked to where Faramir stood with a worried face.

"What in the name of the Valar has happened?" Legolas asked. He had never seen Aragorn like this, as he seemed to be falling apart.

"Prince Eldarion out set with his guards outside of Gondor, four years ago," Faramir answered and let the tears now flow. As he wept, he continued, "Two weeks later, half of the guards were back, and were questioned about the prince, but none knew."

"So, where is the prince?" Gimli asked as he pulled his axe out with rage.

"That, my friend, nobody knows," Faramir answered, and added, "Arwen died last year, and I think that the grief is closer now to the king's heart."

"What do you mean, nobody knows? Someone must be know something." Legolas exclaimed as he hit the air.

"Why he did not let us know? We are his friends, and his son is lost, and maybe dead…" Gimli let his rage take over.
