She stood and surveyed the new statues being erected, looking every bit the Queen she was. Her partner glanced over at her, admiring the view, but then he scowled as he saw the second figure she was having raised. "Sebastian Shaw?" Scott asked.

"You have your heroes, darling," Emma returned, glancing disdainfully at yet another statue of the blasted woman, Jean Grey, who remained determined to still haunt her life from beyond the grave. "I have mine."

She turned her back pointedly to him and finished watching the revelation. Her words were not a lie; though, as often when she spoke to him, they were also not the entire truth. Sebastian Shaw had been anything but a hero. She would always wear his mark upon her soul, but there was a memorial statue of a true hero being raised today and Shaw's statue would serve another purpose. One sight of his regal sneer would remind the homo sapien race that the mutant species could always, and easily, rise above and overpower them.

Emma's blue eyes turned toward the statue of the true hero being erected. Now that was a memorial she would always be proud and glad to see for the man that it represented had made possible a dream that she had not truly believed in for a long time. He had made her believe that dream and fight for it as strongly as she'd ever fought for anything in which she believed, including her own survival.

"You were right, Charles," she whispered as the ribbon was cut amongst joyous shouts. "Our day is here." Although she could not see him, Emma knew he was standing beside her and reveling in the peace that finally reigned. She only hoped it would last as long as he believed it would.
