Dialga's PoV
On the outside you don't appear smart, brave, or any of those things. You appear dull. But deep down there, you are all of them. Like the pearls on your shoulder plates, you have to dig to get to them. That's why I invited you over for a game of Mirror.
"Mirror?" you had said. "What in Arceus's name is that?
"You'll find out. Just come," I had replied.
As I watched you lumber across my grassy place in time before humans, I pulled out the jewel-encrusted mirror. I couldn't do anything with my steel-covered paws except walk, so I had to do almost everything telepathically.
You knocked on my door, a huge booming noise. I bid it open.
"So," you said, maroon markings gleaming in the sunlight. "What did you want?"
"Come here. We are going to play Mirror," I told you.
"I've never heard of that game," you said, red eyes questioning.
"Hold this mirror and tell me what you see. Be honest," I instructed.
When you took the mirror in your hands, I saw you flinch back, the expression on your face shocked. You recovered and said, "I see Arceus teaching us in High School. We sat in the back row. We slept while she taught us math. No wonder it isn't required anymore!" You laughed.
I smiled at the memory. "What you see is our past. Now it is my turn, Palkia."
I took the mirror from you and brought it to my face. I saw the vision dancing on the mirror. It was the next Meeting. I gulped and said, "I see us at the next Meeting. A whole bunch of legendaries are standing in couples: me and you, Latias and Rayquaza, Regice and Registeel, Kyogre and Groudon, Cresselia and Darkrai, Suicune and Raikou, and even Arceus and Giratina! This must be our future."
I handed the mirror back to you and you said excitedly, "I see us sitting here, but we're glowing! You are glowing pink, and I am glowing blue. And I think…"
There was a long pause. You seemed to be thinking. Finally, you spoke up again. "I think I know what it means. Dialga, what's your favorite color?"
"Pink," I said without even thinking. I mentally slapped myself.
"Yep!" you said happily. "It's our favorite colors!"
"No, Palkia," I told the water dragon. "I don't think that is what it means. I think…" I took a deep breath, preparing myself. "I think it means that I love you. And I think it's right."
