Seamus had been expecting a 'yes' or a 'no'. Not this.

"Wait," Lavender replied when Seamus had asked her out. "You're not dating Dean?"

Seamus frowned, his brows furrowing.

"No," he said, confused. "Why would you think that?"

Lavender continued to look at him, surprised. "Because you guys are such close friends and—I mean the entire school thinks you're dating."

Seamus paused. He had never heard of anybody thinking that he was dating Dean. "No, look, Dean might be bisexual, but I'm straight. Completely straight."

Lavender nodded, looking like she might not believe him.

"So will you go to Hogsmeade with me?" he asked again, getting a little impatient. He had no idea why he had a crush on this girl, really.

Lavender let out a little 'oh' before blushing and nodding really quickly.

He smiled, happy to be finished with her. "I'll pick you up in the morning, then!"

As soon as they got to Hogsmeade, Seamus realised something: it was bitterly cold outside. He had not calculated that into their date.

"You want to go to the Three Broomsticks?" Lavender asked, shivering through her coat. If she got hypothermia and died on their first date, that would really suck, so Seamus nodded.

They trekked there and found it to be full of students already. Seamus was going to suggest that they leave and go somewhere else, but Lavender walked on, so he followed.

Somehow, she managed to find them an empty table, where they sat in silence until Madam Rosmerta came to them and took their orders—two butterbeers.

They sat in silence once more until their drinks came. Then they sat in silence while drinking butterbeer.

"This is more awkward than I had hoped," Seamus admitted. He had no idea how to be on a date.

"Yeah," Lavender agreed. They sat in silence again.

"Maybe we shouldn't do this," Seamus offered. This was going significantly worse than he had hoped.

"Maybe," Lavender agreed again, nodding her head.

After that, Seamus drank the last of his butterbeer and placed the empty bottle on the table, heading out to the cold Hogsmeade streets.

People thought he was dating, Dean? Dean did have a good jawline…

Huh.
