Summary: She drank his milk without permission, prattled about something or other and laughed and smiled a lot.
Author's Notes: I was actually trying to write a KH fic when this one popped out of nowhere and insisted I write it. I've recently started Black Cat (six episodes so far) so there might be some mistakes here and there.
She first appeared on the rooftop, singing that song of hers. It sounded more like a lullaby one would sing to a small child. The words were a little nonsensical at best... but her voice was lovely, and it flowed over and around him like water. Soothing.
He didn't know what was it about him that made him so appealing to her. His monosyllabic replies would have put anyone off. Anyone but her. She didn't mind so much.
She drank his milk without permission, prattled about something or other and laughed and smiled a lot. She was annoying at best sometimes. She was like the bright sunlight in his black world. She sang. Often standing on that rooftop, hands clasped together, face turned to the moon. He sat on the bench and listened to her voice.
He didn't know when or how but gradually, he grew used to her presence. She came and went as she pleased, often coming to just drink his milk and leaving with her quirky philosophies to him. He came to like her but he would never admit it out loud. She smiled cheekily.
She stirred something in him. A feeling that had been long forgotten.
She fell in step with him when he was running down the street. He had been running for his life then when she suddenly appeared at his side, running along with him, wearing the biggest, playful grin he had ever seen and suddenly it was a race between them. It was no longer a life or death situation. It was a competition to see who can run faster.
She conned him into buying her ramune at the festival. He grudgingly agreed. She cheered. She stayed and talked to him the entire night, about something or other.
But they never went to the festival together. He woke up too late. She never got her ramune and they never watched the fireworks. She left him just as abruptly as she came into his life.
It left him feeling as though the light was snuffed out and he was left in blackness once more.
Owari.
