A tag to the NCIS S7 episode 'Guilty Pleasure'. Wrote it in about 30 minutes and it's my first time writing anything not Stargate but I couldn't pass on the idea that popped into my head watching the end of the episode.

Guilty Pleasure

After Holly Snow left, Gibbs eventually made his way down into the basement to continue with his latest project. Although he didn't hear anyone enter, he wasn't surprised to hear a sigh from someone standing at the top of his stairs a few hours later. Only one person could ever sneak up on him like that and without even needing to look up to see who it was he knew that none other than Jack O'Neill would now be coming down the stairs to join him.

He may not have had many friends, but he did have at least one in DC that could truly appreciate his love of building boats and he had just arrived.

"A new one?" Jack inquired taking in the sight before him in the basement while removing the cap from a beer that he had grabbed on his way in.

"Yep, been a while since you were here last."

Jack paused for a moment trying to remember exactly when he had been here last; unable to come up with anything he shrugged knowing Gibbs was right. "So…"

Gibbs quickly looked over his workbench and then wordlessly handed Jack a plane at which point he immediately went to work.

Nearly an hour later neither had yet to say another word and both had enjoyed the rare opportunity to simply not have to speak or fill the lingering, yet comfortable silence. "I have to admit," Jack said finally breaking the silence, "I didn't really expect to find you drinking beer tonight." The night was getting late, and they knew that Jack would have to be leaving soon.

Gibbs laughed quietly, reaching to grab another sip from the bottle he had left within arm's reach. "I didn't use it all when I made dinner and it went perfectly with the meal so…"

"Ahh yes, the unexpected and unappreciated secret ingredient to some of the best meals," Jack said with approval. "So what was it tonight?"

"Eggs," was Gibbs' simple reply. "I think I've managed to get someone else hooked on the idea, and after only time."

"Really? Well then, always nice to have another supporter of the cause." Jack said smiling while handing back the plane. "It took me years to convert my wife, and that was after she initially mocked me on the phone about it but I showed her in the end."

Gibbs stopped what he was doing and just stared at Jack.

"Ok," he relented, "She might have just finally agreed to shut me up about it. But either way…" Jack trailed off knowing that there was no point in finishing that train of thought.

"Thanks for the beer Gunny," Jack said starting to make his way upstairs.

"Anytime General," Gibbs replied knowing that Jack was already out of earshot.

*I couldn't resist tossing a slighty shippy element in there ;) Thanks for reading!
