CHAPTER 1
Siobhan slouched awkwardly on the trunk of a rotting tree, smoking a cigarette. She looked down at her feet and saw a small red moving creature. She took a closer look at and saw that it was nothing but a ladybug. She had the urge to kill it, but merely shook it of the tip of her boot. She let out a pretentiously loud and long sigh. Siobhan had another argument with anya last friday. They had one at least every week. And it was usually caused by siobhan saying or doing something rude, mean, or stupid. She felt a little bad when it was a big fight. But she tried hard not to. Whenever they had fights, Siobhan would go to her tree, since she had no other friends to be with. Anya "supposedly" had other friends. Even though she says so doesn't mean siobhan will believe her. Even if it was true. She liked to think that anya didn't. Siobhan has been going to that tree before it even started rotting. Which showed that anya and her fought a lot. Deep down, Siobhan did feel bad, and also new that Anya had other friends. She just refused to believe it. She refused to believe a lot of things. And that is what keeps her so carefree. She basically did not want to care about anything, even though she really does care about some things, and no one knows except for Siobhan's deep deep inner soul.
The weather started to get cold so Siobhan made her way home. Her dad and her brother's were at a long game, so she was all alone. She wanted to call Anya. Siobhan was always the one to stop the shunning between them. If Siobhan waited for Anya to break the silence, it would probably take a year for them to be friends. That was just Anya. Siobhan sat on the floor in her bedroom, which only consisted of a bed that was never made, a dresser filled with unfolded clothes, a dusty desk that hasn't been touched in a long time, and a some junk on the floor. Besides that, it was kind of empty. She felt lonely at times, but told herself to enjoy it, even though she didn't. She threw herself on her bed and grabbed her phone. She saw that she received a new text. "Was it anya?" She thought. But it wasn't. It was from her elementary school friend Luan. Siobhan was very surprised to receive a text from her since they haven't contacted each other for years. She opened the text to see what Luan wrote.
" Hey Sho'! Its me Lu! How are ya? Im visiting my grandparents because my school got burnt down. Sick right!? So yeah Im like near your neighborhood. Text me kay? Later." Siobhans face lit up. It was like god was reading her mind and decided to give her a reward for being sad. Even though Siobhan was atheist, that was all she could think of. She was happy that finally a friend that actually gets her is visiting. She texted Luan to meet her at Penhood Street. Which was the location of another one of Siobhans hang outs. Siobhan was glad that finally, for once, she might not have to see Anya first.
When Siobhan got to penhood St., she waited patiently for her friend, who came rather quickly. Walking across the street, was a girl, with violet dyed hair almost the same length as Siobhans, only styled in a messy spiked bob. She was wearing a striped long sleeve shirt, slacks, and long converse boots. She dressed differently back in elementary, but Siobhan could tell that it was Luan. She waved to get the girls attention. Luan ran towards Siobhan to give her a boyish embrace. Luan started the talking;
-Dude! you haven't changed a bit! -You sure did! I dig your hair! Siobhan said admiring her friends distractingly colored locks. "So, how is it over here? I haven't been here in years." Luan said. "It sucks balls. And so does my school. You would probably hate it." Said Siobhan "Are you kidding? When that fire accident at school happened, i was jumping for joy so much that they suspected it to be me!" Siobhan laughter when friend said that. "Was it you?" "Nope, it was this guy named peter. But nobody knows he did." Luan admitted. The two girls walked around the neighborhood talking about the things that they absolutely hate, and the things that they both have common. Siobhan actually forgot that Anya existed, and didn't even mention Anya to Luan.
Later in the evening, Luan had to go home. But the girls still texted each other at their homes. Siobhan had the idea of contacting Anya. But decided not to. She wanted to put some revenge on Anya by ignoring her. even though Anya didn't deserve it. Siobhan new how childish that sounded, but for some reason could not help it. She just hated being in these positions with a friend, ever since she was little. She hated being the one to start fights, she hated being the one to make people upset, or cry. She hated being ignored be her friends. She would rather be hurt by her friends. She would rather be the one crying. And she would definitely rather ignore her friends. She couldn't explain these feelings, but to make it simple, she didn't want anything to be her fault.
Siobhan was tired so she decided to go to sleep. She stayed up the night before which made her a bit sleepy all day. She lay down on her bed that consisted of covers and a pillow. Not a single stuffed animal or accessory pillow. Just a plain bed. Siobhan was tired. But she could not fall asleep. She was caught far up in her thoughts. She always thought about very deep inners worries that she had. It may not seem like it, but Siobhan had a lot of secrets. She didn't call them secrets. She thought of them as….topics that she never said to anyone, even out loud to herself. One thing that got into her mind a lot, was her sexuality. She didn't really know what gender she was attracted to. never felt attracted to boys, but she found some of them cute. She didn't feel attracted to girls, but she would blush sometimes when she sees a pretty one. She assumed that she was bisexual. Maybe even a lesbian. But what really bothered her was how she didn't feel as if she was a girl. Its not that she's transgender or anything like that. Its that she found it hard to believe that she was even a girl. Most people confused her with being a boy. Even her voice was a little bit rough for a girl. It kind of sounded like an 11 year old boys voice. She didn't want to be girly or change who she is. But she couldn't help but feel sad and confused. Another thing that would always crossed her mind now and then, was the relationship with her family. She lived with her father and 20 brothers that traveled now and then. Her mother ran away and never came back. Siobhan didn't get to meet her actually. Her father never told her why though. The relationship with her and her father was…complicated. He wasn't mean to her or anything. He just never payed much attac=ntion to her. It had probably been a year since she last talked to him. And he was still in the house! He was always very busy. And her brother got in the way of her actually seeing him. They didn't talk to her much either. She lived in a house of 21 or less people, and she barely said a word to one of them. They talked to her once in a while, but not much. It wasn't a quite house. They talked amongst each other. But not to siobhan. She was the only girl in the house. Which was probably the reason why she was such a tomboy. Her clothes were actually her brothers when they were younger. She didn't mind though. She had no interest in dresses and skirts. And yet another thing that she wondered, was….girl stuff…like puberty, hormones, and periods. She didn't even know what it really was. She just heard of something bleeding, but she vaguely knew anything about it. Nobody gave her "the talk" yet. Even though Her school organized a sex ed for the whole ninth grade last year. But she ditched school on that particular day. Siobhan knew a little bit, but not enough to understand. She knew that her breasts were way too small for a fifteen year old, but she didn't think much of it. She wasn't growing any arm pit or pubic hair yet, she still didn't get her "period". She assumed that she was just premature. And she was. She was born earlier than she was supposed to. The doctors thought that she wouldn't live. But she did. And she had no birth defects. Except for the fact that she did not go through puberty yet. Siobhan stop thinking about awkward things and decide to just fall asleep. And she did.
