Chapter One: Prologue

"This is all your fault!" the girl's mother shouted, "If you weren't gone all the time none of this would've happened!"
"Mommy--" the girl started,
"STAY OUT OF THIS, RIMA" her father roared and slapped her.
The girl called Rima crawled away whimpering and the adults continued their fight. Rima watched in horror as her mother began receiving blows. Soon the yelling stopped and the only sounds were skin hitting skin and the 12-year-old's muffled sobs.
Her mother collapsed and Rima screamed. Her father turned on her with a strange look in his eyes. Rima screamed again and heard police sirens before everything went black.
