Gray wasn't... entirely sure what had happened... He just... ended up in this situation.

Maybe he should have avoided the guild's library... In all honesty, he knew he probably should have avoided that book, he knew it looked suspicious, but he was bored, and... it just sort of happened, but as soon as he read some of the words aloud...

Gray ruffled his pitch black feathers in irritation, shaking his head a little bit as he did so.

Now what was he supposed to do?

He stood outside Lucy's door, wondering how to go about this. In this form, she obviously wouldn't be able to recognize him.

He looked down at himself in annoyance. Black, webbed feet, a dark gray bill, sleek black feathers...

How he ended up as a duck... Gray didn't know. Why there was a spell that turned people into ducks... he had even less of an idea.

Gray was snapped out of his thoughts as the sound of a door opening cut into his thoughts. He looked up, and found himself staring into his beautiful girlfriend's eyes.

She blinked down at him, silent. Then, her eyes seemed to light up, and she squealed.

"Oh my god!" She gushed, dropping to her knees and holding her cheeks. "You're so adorable!" She held out her hand, and Gray eyed her cautiously.

'What the hell... I have never been spoken to like that... I don't know how to react...'

He opened his mouth, praying to high heaven that this spell would act only halfway, and that he'd still be able to speak.

Gray internally blushed as nothing but a pathetic 'quack' sounded from his throat.

Lucy squealed again and gently took him in her arms, pressing him to her chest. Gray nodded appreciatively as his feathered chest was pressed into hers. Even if he was in this situation, he enjoyed this position.

"Where did you come from cutie? I don't see a lot of ducks around here!" Lucy stroked Gray's soft head, and Gray felt his eyes half closing in satisfaction. He had no clue that being petted could feel so good...

'Well, I would say that I came from the guild, but unfortunately, I can't speak.' He quacked again, earning himself another squeaking sound from his girlfriend.

"Oh, you're such a cutie... your feathers are so pretty, I've never seen a black duck before." She ran her slender fingers over Gray's wings. "It's the same color of Gray's hair..." she murmured to herself with a smile.

If Gray could smile, he would. He watched her brown eyes, and she smiled at him. "You seem a little odd, don't you? You're not scared of me at all?" She said.

'This is my chance! Maybe I can make it obvious I'm a human!' Gray thought to himself in triumph.

He shook his head slowly, making it seem deliberate. He felt a little dizzy, but he wasn't sure why.

Lucy blinked. "Huh?" She stared for another moment. "Do you... understand me?" She asked.

Gray nodded, ruffling his feathers again. He blinked hard, trying to dispel the blurriness of his vision, but it didn't work. He felt... off, but he didn't know why.

"Are you some sort of... super smart duck?" Lucy asked, cocking her head to the side.

Gray mentally sighed. 'Come on, Lucy, I know you can do better than that...' he felt his eyes close.

"Hey, Duckie, are you okay?" He heard her voice far off, as if she were talking to him through a tunnel. "Duckie?"

Gray's eyes snapped open as a popping sound reached his ears, and a puff of blueish smoke erupted from the spot where he'd been. He felt his body grow rapidly, his wings becoming hands, his feet becoming human again.

A moment later, he was fully human.

He looked up at Lucy's face. Her eyes were wide with shock, her cheeks pink. "Wh-wh-what are-" She stammered.

Gray, still a little dumbfounded, looked down. Her chest was pressed against his, and his shirt was...

Gray paled.

His... clothes were...

His head snapped back up to meet her gaze.

Lucy's face went even redder.

"Your... your pants..."

"I'm sorry!"
