The Narnian Twelve Days of Christmas
Disclaimer: I own nothing!
It was 13 days until Christmas in Narnia, and Susan and Lucy were laying on Susan's bed talking. Suddenly Susan changed the subject from the Christmas ball to, "Lu, do you remember that song from our world about the 12 days of Christmas?"
Lucy laughed. "You mean the weird one about all those gifts?"
"Yeah. You know, I always kind of thought it would be fun if I ever had a true love and he gave me those things. It would be so romantic."
"Susan, you're a bit silly." But while they started talking about the ball again, somebody had been eavesdropping on them and formulated a plan.
The next morning Susan woke up and found a beautiful painting of a partridge in a pear tree. "What in the world is this doing here?" She got out of bed and went to examine it. There was no name on it telling her who it was from. Lucy cracked the door open, stuck her head in, and said, "Su, it's about time-. What's that?" she asked as she entered, leaving the door open.
"I wish I knew. It looks like a painting of something."
Lucy tilted her head to look at it more carefully. "Why, Susan, I know who it's from."
"Who?"
"Your true love."
Susan sighed. "Lu, I mean really."
"Well, so do I. Someone who loves you must have heard us talking yesterday."
"Lucy, how would they know what the gifts are?"
Lucy looked at her like she was crazy. "We have brothers, you know."
"Oh, yeah." The two girls stood looking at it for a few minutes more before Peter stuck his head in and said, "Su, Lu, it's almost time for breakfast."
"Oh, right. We're coming." The two exited, and as they did, Lucy said, "You know, Susan, I'm sorry I said you were silly for wanting that yesterday. Now I agree with you. It is rather romantic." The conspirator who had left it heard Lucy and after breakfast found a friend of his who would not mind in the least leaving paintings for Lucy.
Over the course of the next days before Christmas, Susan and Lucy always woke up to a new picture, adding a new gift every time. Neither of them could find out who was leaving them those paintings. But, with the five golden rings, four calling birds, three French hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree, love notes began to be left. They really were sweet. By the time the 12th was left on Christmas Eve, both were a bit sad to see them end. The note that was left with that painting said, "Tomorrow morning I will reveal myself to you. I will be the first person to kiss you on the cheek." Both girls were a bit confused at that. "What will Pete and Ed say?" Lucy worried.
"Lu, they had to have the boy's permission before even leaving these paintings. I'm sure they won't kill these two men. At least, I hope not."
On Christmas morning, the girls woke up and went downstairs to open presents and, hopefully, meet their lovers. As soon as they stepped into the room, their true loves walked up and each planted a kiss on the girl's cheek. They looked at the men wide-eyed. "Peter! Did you leave me all those lovely paintings and notes?"
"Yes. And Ed did it for Lu. I know that you were thinking of a man besides your brother, but-"
"No, no! I don't mind at all the fact that it was you! Actually, I might like it better with you leaving them."
"You do?"
"Sure. I'm not going to marry you, Pete! I'm not quite sure if I want to get married yet."
"Susan, you're 17. Lu's 13. I'm not going to let either of you marry until you're at least 18. But, I guess I just did it because I love you."
"Same here." Edmund said. Peter and Edmund kissed their sisters again before the happy family went to open presents.
Author's Note: Merry Christmas! Oh, and this is my 10th story!
