Two years after the Fourth Shinobi War, Sai has shown emotion. Sakura sees him differently now. Will it work out?

One-shot. First fic. Please give constructive criticisms :)

Sakura walked around Konoha, not really sure where she's headed. Everything had calmed down, finally. Ever since the fourth shinobi war, peace was finally restored.

The only thing that hasn't gone back to normal was Sasuke. He was still a missing-nin, but he never created any trouble ever since he helped Naruto defeat Tobi. She had thought Sasuke would come back to Konoha but she was wrong. That was two years ago. The rest of Konoha 11 plus Sai were all alive. Sai...

Her train of thought was suddenly interupted when she heard her name being called.

"Sakura-chan!" a male voice called.

She turned around and saw that it was her teammate, Sai. He was smiling, not the fake one, like he was actually glad to see her.

"Oh, hi Sai." She beamed. When they first met, she hated him. But after a few years of having him as her teammate, things started to change. Especially after the war, there was a dramatic change in him. Sakura and the rest noticed it too.

Kakashi told Naruto and Sakura that Sai had finally showed some emotion after seeing his brother during the war. His brother was used as one of Kabuto's pawns. A glint of hope sparkled within Sakura when she heard the word 'emotion' describing Sai. There was hope, afterall. But she shrugged these thoughts and talked to him.

"So, how are you? Going to the library to read some books?" she asked him kindly.

Sai looked at her for a moment. Even though they've known each other for a few years now, he still thought she was something. He read a few books about liking someone and doesn't know if she likes him too.

'No, she has Sasuke. She'd never like me.'

"I'm not sure. I don't really know where I'm going" he laughed nervously.

'Should I do it? No. Yes. No. Yes, yes Sai. You can do this.'

Sakura raised her eyebrows questioningly. She's never seen Sai nervous or being 'not sure'.

"Are you ok-"

"Would you like to go eat lunch somewhere?" Sai suddenly blurted out.

Sakura was shocked. Sai never did this to anyone, not even to Ino. And she thought he has something on her.

"Uhm, Sai? Do you have a fever or something? Did the boulder from our last mission hit your head too hard?" She was bombarding him with all kinds of questions. Sai shook his head.

"I'm fine." He smiled. Suddenly, Sakura placed her hand on his forheard and looked into his eyes, worry clear on her face. The soft and warm touch of her hand on his forehead sent warm electricity through his body. He blushed furiously.

"Sai?" Sakura asked, worried.

He slowly grabbed the hand on his forehead and held it in his. It felt perfect. He smiled. Now it was Sakura's turn to blush.

"I'm fine. I just wanted to have lunch with you. If that's okay, that is?" Sakura glanced at their hands connected. She felt like a spark was created. She heard what he had to say and looked up to his eyes quickly.

'Is this happening? Sai actually asked me out! No, don't read too much into it. Just act like it's Naruto wanting to go eat ramen with you. Yep.'

She smiled warmly to him that made his heart skip a beat.

"Sure Sai. It's almost 12 o'clock anyways. We can go eat at that new dango store." She beamed. Sai still hasn't let go of her hand, so hesistantly he did.

"That's good. Let's go then?" He smiled. She smiled back.

They both felt that it was going to be a start of something deeper.

"Ahhh, young love." Kakashi smiled and said to himself. He was seated on a tree branch just a few feet away from them. He was well hidden and heard the whole thing. He closed his Icha Icha book and jumped down. He walked towards the cemetery to pay a visit to Obito and Rin's grave.
