Started my daily ficlets to make the hiatus pass, then decided to keep going with a 2nd cycle, and then a 3rd, 4th, etc through 15th cycle. Now cycle 16!
"Still Have Dancing Feet"
Quinn & Mike
So very late and short, I'm sorry
They had all been wondering about it, whether they would admit it or not. They had all wondered how Quinn would get along with the dancing as the months went by and she got bigger. She had shown them there was hardly a thing to worry about, and perhaps none more than after they had followed Mr. Schuester in performing 'Ice, Ice, Baby.'
"Nice moves there, Fabray," he went up to her when they were done. "Spry." She laughed, thankful.
"I do my best," she bowed her head. "It's… different," she admitted. "I worried a lot for a while if that would hurt her, you know?" she spoke as they all went back to sit, waiting for what would be next. "I'd just imagine her being thrown around in there. That's just scary…"
"Oh, yeah," Mike agreed, getting that odd image in his head… It came off not unlike a load of laundry in the drier or those numbered balls at a lottery draw… He had to remind himself that was probably not the case.
"I know eventually I'll probably have to change that, but while I still can, might as well go for it, right?" she shrugged.
"Definitely," he nodded with a smirk. She breathed out, smiling.
It wasn't as easy as before she was pregnant, of course; it couldn't be. But the fact that she could get through it, accommodate herself and carry on, it made her feel a little better… It made all the difference some days.
She'd known this would be part of it, as much as she'd dreaded it. For a while all it was to her was a ticking clock, the thing that would get bigger and bigger, threatening at any moment to be noticed by her mother or father. There was no point being anxious about anything when she had that hanging over her head 24/7.
It had happened eventually, of course. Now she had reached the top of the hill, and the rollercoaster was diving down… At the bottom, childbirth… There was something new to go off worrying about.
The more the days went by, the more she longed for when it'd be over. She could hardly wait to get her body back, get back to being as 'spry' as Mike believed her to be. As difficult as it could get, she knew it was only a time in her life, and it would come to an end. She just had to hang on.
THE END
[A/N: This is a one-shot ficlet, story alert won't get you anything! ;)]
