Summary: Every story has a beginning, just as it has a middle and an end. Lives are lived, wars are fought, loves are found and lost. This is one such story. This is the story of a beginning, but it is also the story of a journey. The story of how one man and one woman found their way through obstacles and hardships to finally stand on the cusp of their own destinies. It is the story of three worlds, and the friction between them. It is a story of change, of hardship. A story of prejudice, loss, and heartache. But above all... it is a story of life. Life, in all it's colours and shapes.

This is a story for anyone who has read any of my Second Sunrise series, any of the stories that I have written for fanfic100, or any of the other oneshots that feature the four Kurosaki children and their cohorts or V-Div. This is the story that spawned them all, the story of how Kurosaki Ichigo and Kuchiki Rukia made a life together. Of their conflict with Soul Society over the volatile issue of the Vaizard and how they should be treated. Of the family that they began and the hardships they endured in order to create the life they wanted. It is the "source" for Kaien, Hisana, Yuusuke, and all the rest. It is where the specialty division was first formed, and where they first met their troubles with Seireitei. I have been considering writing this story for a long time, it has it's roots in a roleplay that I did with a good friend, and the option of actually writing it out has just stuck with me to the point that I've decided to do it. Some of the stories that were spawned off of this original story don't actually "fit" with the original, because they sprang from an alternate timeline that was used for RP purposes. I will do my best to point out those inconsistencies as well as to point out at what points during this storyline those "others" -- like Dusty Gold or A Friendship of Opposites -- would have fit in. So for that, all of you who has wondered about where they came from, what transpired between current canon and the foundation of V-Div, this is for you.
