Disclaimer: I do not own Frozen, and I obviously do not own Young Justice(which sadly includes Teekl)
Reindeers are better than people
Sven, don't you think that's true?
Yeah, people will beat you and curse you and cheat you
Every one of them's bad except you
"Familiars are better than people, you know," Klarion mumbled, catching the attention of his feline familiar.
Teekl paused her grooming session to look at the witch-boy in a way that encouraged him to go on. Klarion was rarely ever in a reflective mood.
"I mean, all people ever do is lie to you and cheat you. Make you trust them then trick you."
There was a brief silence in the room as Klarion shifted to a more comfortable position on his couch.
"And if that wasn't bad enough, they like to point fingers. Calling each other bad when they themselves are bad. Hypocrites."
A pointed feline look was thrown his way.
"I never said I'm not bad," he smirked.
Teekl meowed in agreement and went back to grooming herself.
"They're bullies, all of them. And they won't stop to to think before having you burnt at stake. Because they're stupid. Puh, even these so-called 'family ties' mean nothing..."
Klarion said that last bit with so much venom that Teekl stopped immediately, knowing which memories were surging through her witch-boy's chaotic mind.
"But familiars! Familiars are loyal!" he happily chirped as his beloved cat jumped onto him. "They'll love you, and protect you, and follow you! A familiar is a companion for life! Right, Teekl?" he asked as he gently stroked the cat's soft fur.
The loyal familiar nuzzled her witch-boy's chin in response.
"Aw, thanks, Teekl."
But people smell better than reindeers
Sven, don't you think I'm right?
That's once again true for all except you
You got me, let's call it a night
"Mreaow," Teekl purred. Klarion's smile dropped instantly.
"Aw fine!" he huffed, recalling the results of the last battle he had with the junior Justice League. "But I'm tired! I'll do that tomorrow," he sniffed, waving his hand.
Teekl rolled her eyes but affectionately curled up in the boy's arms.
"Night, Teekl," he murmured before closing his eyes.
Goodnight
Don't let the frostbite bite
Just a short fic I thought of while thinking of that one really funny song from Frozen.
I made a reference to Issue #4 of Klarion from the Seven Soldiers comics. It's that part where he was about to be burned at stake for speaking against Limbo Town's beliefs and his sister was actually holding the torch to him and his mom, according to him, "led the chorus for his death". I like to think it also happened in the YJ universe.
I for one have my own theories and ideas about Klarion's possible backstory in the YJ universe. If you're interested, too, try reading ABlurInTheWind's Remember the Pilgrim(And His World) and One Step At A Time. Both are related to Klarion's backstory and who knows, they might even prove that familiars really are better than people.
Reviews, please :)
