So this is actually a multi-chapter idea that has been wriggling around in my mind for a while now after reading quite a fair bit of Wild Mass Guessing pages on TVTropes. One sentence I noticed in the EarthBound page was "Ness was brainwashed into becoming Porky's best friend forever." Then I started thinking, "What if Ness was sent to stop Lucas before he arrived to save the day with Drago's kid in tow?"
This is the prologue to a story I will eventually put up. No, I do not own anything. Also, this is AU not only because of the idea already mentioned, but also because of the fact that here, SSBB is canon.
He slammed his fists once, twice, thrice against the glass walls, but nothing happened. The glass didn't even crack.
He slumped down to the ground and drew his knees up to his chest. How long had he been trapped in the glass box? He didn't know, but then again, he didn't know his own name.
What he did know was that he wasn't supposed to be trapped in his own mind. He wasn't supposed to just stand by and let whoever was controlling his body do horrifying things to people, even those he didn't know.
But what could he do? The box was unbreakable, his latest efforts at breaking out proved that, as had countless other attempts before. On top of that, he didn't even know any other method of trying to break out other than hammering on the glass with his bare fists.
He sighed. It was time to stop for a while, rest and gather his strength. That was the only thing that preserved his sanity nowadays: stopping and thinking, even if his mind was a fuzzy mess of unremembered memories.
He took the red cap off the messy shock of black hair atop his head, and stared at it for a long time, running his fingers through the material and occasionally poking at the hard parts of the cap, then smiled.
He closed his eyes and drifted off to dreamless sleep, still clutching onto the hat.
Yes. Yes, it is incredibly short. But like I said, it's a prologue.
Have you guessed who the amnesiac young boy is? Three guesses, first two don't count. Oh, wait, yeah. He's Ness, and he's something like, what, 1,012 years old now? However, he and the other three still keep their youthful appearances because I keep thinking Pokey (or Porky) would want them that way. I'm going with the idea that the would-be king is a glory hound about the past, even if it was filled with failures for him.
