Let's assume that Alita is old enough to drive & that XANA still hasn't been defeated…

Jeremy's POV:

"I still don't like you driving so soon after the accident." I said as Alita drove us back to school.

"That was a month ago, Jeremy." she said. "Besides, XANA took control of my car. It had nothing to do with my driving."

I was about to tell her that she should still take it easy driving when the radio suddenly switched to a station playing music from the 60's.

"Weird…I asked the mechanics to fix that radio." I asked, trying to switch it back with no luck. "Why did you want to get the car fixed, anyway? It was pretty trashed when you ran into the tree…"

"Because it's my car!" Alita said. "Besides, I owed him a favor for saving my life…" she added, under her breath…

"Who are you talking about?" I said. We hit a bump & the glove compartment opened.

"Ok, ok, I get the message!" Alita said, laughing. I looked at her like she was crazy.

"Who are you talking to?"

"There's a letter in there that will explain everything."

I found it & opened it up, trying to figure out the handwriting.

"My name is Private Andrew Malone." It said. "If you're reading this, then I didn't make it home. But for every dream that shatters, anther one comes true. This car was once a dream of mine, & now it belongs to you. You can take her & make her your own, but you'll always be riding with Private Malone."

"…You really think that there's a ghost attached to the car?" I asked.

"Why not?"

"Because it's not possible?"

"Well, Ulrick & Od told me that they saw a stranger pull me out of the car after the accident. He disappeared before they were able to thank him or even get his name."

"That doesn't mean it was this Private Malone person…" I thought I saw something sitting in the back seat out of the corner of my eye. I turned to see what it was.

The back seat was empty.

"What's wrong?" Alita asked.

"Uh, nothing. I just thought I saw something…" I said. "That doesn't prove anything!"

"Relax, Jeremy. He doesn't mean us any harm. Well, except for one thing…"

"What?"

"He normally rides shot gun. You're in his spot."

Yes, I know I have other projects I should be working on…but this was born in an effort to help break my writer's block…I've had this idea for a long time, & I'm glad I finally got some time to write it.
