A/N This idea came from Rowena DeVandal's June writing challenge. Too bad I didn't get around to writing it until now, so it can't be entered in the contest. I thought it would make a good story though. This chapter's a little short, but I promise the others will be longer.
Edward is about to approach the Volturi for the second time, this time with Bella. He was very worried about what Aro would do to Bella. He didn't care if he died, but he didn't want Aro to terminate Bella because she knew of their existance.
Felix ushered the two of them to where Aro, Marcus, and Caius were standing. Cauis had a smirk on his face as if he would enjoy killing them. Marcus looked totally bored, and probably wanted to get this over with so he could resume feeling sorry for himself. Aro wore a broad smile and extended his arms in a welcoming gesture.
"Hello again Edward." Aro greeted warmly.
He looked at Bella.
"Is this the cause of all the trouble?" He asked.
Edward nodded his head.
"You have been very stupid Edward. Trying to be killed over a human, and revealing our existance to her. WHat must Carlisle think?" He shook his head. "What are we gonna do with you?"
"Let us go?" Edward asked hopefully.
Aro shook his head. "The girl has to go I'm sorry to say. Unless of course you plan on changing her?"
"I can't." Edward said. "I can't destory her soul.
"Then she must go. Jane." He called.
"Wait!" Edward pleaded. "Please let her live. This is all my fault, punish me."
"We must do something, or risk our repuation." Aro said.
Marcus spoke for the first time. "Why not take away his mind reading powers? That should teach him to break our rules."
"You fool, that will not stop the girl from exposing us." Caius seethed.
" I won't tell anyone.." Bella said meekly.
Aro gave an uncharacteristic sympathetic look. " I guess we can let her go this one time. If she exposes us to people, hey it's more food for us."
He then looked at Edward.
"I'm afraid I'm going to have to take away your mind reading ability. If we let you off unscathed, people will think they don't have to follow the rules anymore. I'm gonna have Melinda do it."
"Who's Melinda?" Edward asked.
"Ah our newest addition. She has the power to take away vampire's special abilities. A very useful girl" Aro said admiringly.
"Melinda." He called.
A short dark haired vampire walked in.
"Yes?" She asked.
"I need you to take away Edward's powers."
"Okay." she said.
She pointed her finger at Edward and a maroon color traveled from him to her.
"That outta do it." She said.
Edward tried to read people's minds but it didn't work.
Caius must have been able to tell because he started snickering.
"You are free to go." Aro said. "Do not cross us again or break another rule. The next judgement will not be so generous."
Edward nodded and he and Bella walk out towards Alice and her yellow Porsche.
He feared what his life was going to be like from now on but he was grateful he still had his precious Bella.
