Ron finished his Potions essay, checked one more time that the common room is empty, and dashed to the dormitory. As he reached the door to the second year Gryffindor Dormitory, he tiptoed to Harry's trunk. After he made sure Harry was deeply asleep, he guilty opened Harry's trunk and took out the old invisibility cloak. He wore it on and made his way to the hospital wing.
On the way, he kept muttering to himself about how mad he is to dare step foot out of the common room after hours in these nasty days.
He didn't know why he is doing it, but he felt like he had to.
He reached the hospital wing's door and opened it using the first ever spell Hermione had taught him.
"Alohomora!"he whispered.
Ron entered the room, left the cloak on the nearest bed, and made his way to Hermione's bed.
There she was, looking pale and hollow. He sat next to her and stared into her cold eyes. She seemed so peaceful and- and actually beautiful. He rested his hands on her cheek. Her skin was cold as ice but still soft.
After what felt like minutes, Ron checked his old wrist watch. It was 3:00 am! He spent three hours sitting next to her!
Yesterday, he stayed for only 1 hour and a half, and so was the last couple of weeks.
"Goodbye, Hermione,"Ron whispered.
"As if she'll hear me!I'm mental!"he thought.
He made his way invisible to the Gryffindor Common Room, gave the fat lady the password (after being shouted out for waking her up), and collapsed into the first chair in his way.
"Where have you been?"came a voice behind him.
He turned to find Harry standing on the last step of the stairs, still wearing his Pjs.
"Blimey, Harry! You almost gave me a heart attack,"exclaimed Ron.
"You didn't answer me,"said Harry.
"Well, I was just...wondering around,"lied Ron.
"Ron, don't fool me! I know you weren't just wondering around!"Harry said.
"Alright! I was visiting the hospital wing,"said Ron sheepishly.
"The hospital wing, huh? How's Hermione doing?"said Harry with a smirk.
"Petrified, "answered Ron. His ears were already getting red.
"So, why are you visiting her everynight?"asked Harry.
"Who said I've been visiting her everynight?"Ron exclaimed.
"Oh, shut up. Don't try to convince me it's the first time you've been out."
"Okay, it's not. That's the 15th visit, actually,"said Ron; his ears getting more red.
"But why? What's the point in visiting someone who's petrified every single night. You could've been caught, or even worse!"Harry said.
"I dunno,"said Ron, who has suddenly caught intrest in his nails.
"Unless you're..."Harry's eyes widened and then he laughed hard.
"Hey! You'll wake them up,"whispered Ron.
"You were there because you fancy her!"
"What? No! I'm just...I visit her for no apparent reason!"lied Ron.
