A/n: Hello, everyone! I know it's been a while, but I'm back with another story. This one is several chapters, and there may be space for a sequel...As always, I hope you enjoy!

As the sun began to rise over Ninjago City, and all the shops and stores began to open their doors for a new day, people rushed from place to place, getting breakfast and going to work. Cars were finally visible on the streets, and the windows of the buildings glistened with dew drops. The sky turned a light shade of blue, and the world finally seemed to shake off its sleepy feeling, and wake up.

A flock of birds flew overhead as Teresa unlocked the doors to her coffee shop. She'd opened it for the first time on Valentine's Day, and it was immediately packed. In fact, the shop was so popular that she had ended up canceling a blind date that night. She'd felt bad standing the guy up, as he seemed nice, but it gave her a chance to meet someone new.

Mickey owned an extremely fancy and very popular restaurant just down the street. For the Valentine's Day, the restaurant would be open all night long. He'd come in to get some coffee, hoping the caffeine would help him stay awake.

The two had talked a bit, and ended up spending the evening together, before Mickey had to return to the restaurant and Teresa had to close up the shop. Since then, they had been texting every day, and she thought she might really like him.

Now the Barista opened the doors to her little shop, and flipped the sign in the window. Smiling brightly, she stood behind the counter, awaiting her first customer of the day.

It wasn't long before one of the regulars walked in, and greeted her happily.

"Hi, Nya!" How have you been?" Teresa asked.

"Great. Thank you." Nya replied.

"The usual?" Teresa asked.

"Yes, please." Nya told her, and then sat down at a table, taking out her phone to check her messages. Teresa took out a small bag of coffee beans, and opened to coffee grinder. She poured the beans into it, but before she could press the button to grind them, a raven flew in through the open door.

The raven perched on one of the ceiling beams. Startled, Teresa looked up from the coffee she was making.

"Not again," She mumbled, "Shoo! Shoo! Get out of here!" She grabbed the nearest broom, poking at the bird with it. Nya, upon seeing this, stood up to help her. Together, they chased the bird out of the coffee shop. But they didn't notice that a single feather had fallen into the coffee grinder, laying atop the coffee beans.

"Does that happen a lot?" Nya asked.

"No. Only once before this. I have to remember to close that door in the mornings." Teresa replied, walking back to the coffee grinder. She was about to look inside, when Nya spoke.

"What's that?" She asked.

"What's what?" Teresa inquired, pressing the button on the grinder and turning to look at the water ninja. The bird's feather was ground up, along with the beans.

"Is it a nest?" Nya asked, pointing at the ceiling. Teresa looked where she was pointing, and saw that a bird's nest was sitting on one of the ceiling beams.

"Well, no wonder that raven wanted to come inside; his family is in here!" Teresa exclaimed.

"What should we do about it?" Nya inquired.

"Oh, don't worry. I'll have someone come and take care of it this afternoon. That way, we don't accidentally hurt the nest, or anything inside of it." Teresa told her, going back behind the counter to finish Nya's coffee.

When the barista was done, she handed Nya the cup, and the water ninja smiled.

"Thank you." She said, "This coffee is what gets me through my day, and with a smile, too."

"I'm glad to hear that." Teresa answered, "So I guess I'll see you tomorrow?"

"You bet." Nya told her.

Once she was gone, Teresa called someone to take care of the bird's nest. They would be there by 12:00. But until then, she had to close up shop, in case anything happened to the nest.

Hopefully that bird didn't affect Nya's coffee…Teresa thought.

Nya sat on a bench outside the library, sipping her coffee as she waited for Jay. They often met there to research ancient fighting styles, which came in quite helpful during battles. The coffee had an odd taste to it today, something foreign that she couldn't quite place.

She shrugged. It was probably nothing. Nya's phone started ringing, and she quickly answered it.

"Hey." Jay's voice said.

"Hi, Jay." Nya smiled, "Where are you? We were supposed to meet at the library ten minutes ago."

"I know, I know, and I'm on my way. But I thought I'd stop at the store. While I'm here, is there anything in particular that you want for your birthday?" Jay inquired.

"Just for you to be on time for once." Nya giggled.

"Right. Sorry, I'm on my way." Jay told her.

"It's alright." Nya replied, "Is there anything you want to do tomorrow? Go to brunch or something?"

"Sure, but don't you have that thing with your brother tomorrow?" Jay asked.

"Yes, but we're not going to volunteer at the animal shelter until 10:00, so we would have time for brunch." Nya said.

"Okay, then I'll pick you up at 9:30 and we'll have a quick brunch." Jay said.

"It's a date." Nya smiled, ending the call. Suddenly, the phone pinged, and she opened her E-mail.

It was a message from the Coast Guard. Seeing that she had water powers, Nya had applied for a job as an apprentice, hoping that one day she could become a real guard.

The message said that her application had been accepted, and her interview would be done over video chat at 9:00 AM tomorrow. Nya pumped her fist in the air.

If she could ace this interview, she was sure to get the job! Then, she and Jay could finally start building a future together.

Though, tomorrow would be a very busy day, Nya knew that it would be worth it if she could spend time with her family, and get her dream job at the same time.

What could possibly go wrong?
