The Rise of the Chrystal Kingdom
Chapter 1
It was a cool and calm day in the Crystal kingdom. A gentle breeze swept leaves as fillies and colts played in the streets. Everypony was happy and the kingdom was at what seemed to be its peak, nopony had ever been better off in this kingdom. Ever since Princess Cadence and Prince Shining Armor took control of the kingdom the citizens never felt safer or happier, and there were no problems in anyponies relationships. All was well and everything only got better as the days went by.
Towards the outskirts of the kingdom there lied a large arch marking the path to the city. A mare walked past it, admiring the gleaming city from a distance. As she walked she saw something gleam out of the corner of her eye. She paused, approached the object, and picked it up. A small rock lied in her hoof, black, shiny, and with no particular shape. She looked at it for a brief second, and within that second she was gone; not gone from the world, she was still there, but it was as if she was empty. Her pupils narrowed and she began to head right back towards the center of town, with the black rock still in hoof. As she neared the town square a guard stepped before her.
"Halt!" He shouted but she continued to move forward, unaware of what she was doing. More guards joined him so that they were a group of five. They took a defensive form and shouted in unison."By command of the royal guard, halt!" This time she did stop. "Turn around and leave the area, the crystal heart is only available on certain days, you know that, now step away!" At that the ground trembled a bit and a deep and dark voice could be heard. "You can not tell me what to do!" The mare faltered and fell to her knees, black flames burst from her eyes and a shockwave blew all who stood before her back. She stood, stepped forward until she was within reach of the crystal heart, and placed the black stone below where it hovered. A red beam shot between the crystals which kept it in place and the energy flowed up and out of the point at the top of the crystal palace. The sky turned a combination of black and red and all the ponies in the crystal kingdom fell to their knees except for the guards and the prince and princess. As the citizens stood, black flames burst from around their eyes as well. They began to beat down and imprison those who were not as they were. Soon the streets around the palace were filled with ponies preparing to attack their rulers. The remaining guards, knowing they stood no chance, had already fled back to the palace to make a stand against the revolting citizens and protect their prince and princess.
Once in the safety of the palaces doors a guard asked shining armor what to do.
"Do not fight them, you'll be harming the citizens you stand to protect."
"Do we just surrender? they don't look like they will let us remain unharmed."
"We keep them busy as long as we can." said Princess Cadence. "They are not themselves, they're being controlled by an old and evil force. He will stop at nothing to take control of this kingdom and all others that surround it. Guards, barricade the doors and windows, we're getting out of here and finding help." Within a few minutes the doors and windows were barricaded well enough to last days under heavy force. The group of survivors huddled together and when the prince and princess touched horns they were gone, teleported right into the halls of princess celestia's castle.
