Everyone was dancing now. The dance floor was a free for all and Ron had to stifle his laughter as he watched a very drunk Fleur attempt to do crank that soldier boy. His chest felt like it was about to explode, until finally, Hermione appeared behind him and encircled her arms around his waist.
"I've told you it's not polite to stare, Ron," She whispered in his ear. Her soft voice sent tingles down his spine and he spun around in her embrace. "Fleur's has a little too much vodka and Bill isn't in much better shape…they're far too drunk to Apparate."
He pressed a finger to her lips. "Hermione, they'll be fine. The Knight Bus'll come for 'em. Right now, I want to do what Fleur's doing…am I cranking that soldier boy, right?" Ron hopped back and forth on one leg and with arms spread wide, pretended to swoosh through the air.
"I've got to ask George to play something slower," Hermione said under her breath while rolling her eyes. She hustled off to find that blasted brother-in-law of hers and disappeared into the crowd, leaving Ron amongst their dancing friends and family.
In the corner of his eye, he spotted a familiar grey bun. McGonagall had made it after all. He danced his way through the crowd and approached the table where his favourite witch—after Hermione, his mother and Ginny of course—was sitting. Merlin knows she had saved his, Hermione and Harry's skin more times than they could count on both hands twice.
The music switched and suddenly people began to pair off. He feared to think what Hermione must've said to George about his music skills. "Ehem, Professor," Ron stuttered, extending his hand. "Would you mind dancing with me?"
Peeking up over her glasses, McGonagall gave him a very confused look, but placed her wrinkled hand in his. "Weasley?" She asked, still unsure as they made their way to the middle of the floor. "What in the name of Merlin is this about?"
"Oh come on, Professor," Ron added slyly, carefully spinning her around. He could see Hermione, Harry and Ginny watching and silently chuckling as they danced. "For old time's sake."
McGonagall smiled and for the quickest second, Ron would've swore he heard Harry say to Hermione 'Never let him forget this'.
