THE SICKNESS
Heavyfoot was now a teenaged longneck his herd had joined up with Amber his best friend's herd. One day Sabina his great-great grandmother grew seriously ill. Heavyfoot: Grandma Sabina! What's wrong? His Great-great grandfather Titan answered. Titan: She is very ill. It's an illness that has basically no cure. Long ago an illness like this ravaged the herd but we recovered. Not without loses though. I'm afraid her time is numbered. Sabina: You must all move on before the illness gets to you as well! It's too late for me. Go! The herd knew they had no choice but they didn't want to see their leader die. Sabina: I'm very old Heavyfoot when you are 300 years old you won't be as strong as you are now. When the sickness had passed all that remained of the once large herd was his mother, father, Grandmothers and grandfathers and 2 aunts and 3 uncles and his 3 siblings. Amber's herd had survived. Heavyfoot did not know it. One day he would be one of the few survivors of his herd. He had gained Amber as a mate. They would have children and grandchildren too. But another story.
