A Fox's Ballad
By KindaConfuzzled

Sly and mischievous, I choose my own path.
To escape my predator, avoid being caught and shoved in a cage.
And keep to myself, searching for my personal route
Yet I still wander unknowingly in the moonless night.

I am by myself, alone, and solitary,
Sometimes caught in the trap the People have made.
Using my wits and experiences, I do my best
If I do not succeed, I try and try yet again
To escape from this prison I am in

Dodging my dilemmas all my life,
Never resting, Nocturnal,
Changing like the seasons
Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall
This life I have is full of mysteries,
And changing like the seasons

Just one of the many of my kind,
I camouflage within my group,
We treat each other as individuals,
It's just us, just us.
And we don't treat each other differently.
We're simply the same.

I join the hunt, spy on my prey,
And strike.
To conquer my endless fear of the unknown,
To use my wits to escape any situation.
To take care of myself.

Me, the devil, and the angel
Just living my life
With two personalities:
The way I want to be, and the way I'm supposed to be
I want be to be myself, finding my own path
And not walk along the road chosen for me,
Simply like a caged spirit.
