Title: Peter Pan
Own: nothing
Companion piece to where do we go.
Dean remembered when he started to read Peter Pan to Sammy out loud, he had been eleven and continued to read until Sam reached puberty. The book was a library book that was given to him by an old librarian that took pity on him. The book was the only thing from his childhood that he kept. When Sam left for collage he found himself reading the worn book once again.
To die would be a awfully big adventure, and it was.
He did not leave Sam like Wendy left Peter pan. Dean would stay in Neverland forever, never grow old, and never be a father.
The book was open resting on Sam's chest that was half asleep. Dean's hand could not touch the rough cover again, to feel it, to smell the old paper. "Dean?"
"Yeah"
"Read to me" it was between sleep and awareness Dean could speak to Sam and Sam could hear him. "All children grow up except oneā¦" Dean's lips feather touched Sam's forehead as Sam sighed happy as he slipped into deep slumber.
But eventually even Peter Pan left Neverland to grow up and marry Lena. "Sammy will you leave Neverland?" Dean asked one night
"No I'm not peter pan, I'm a lost boy and we stay in Neverland."
A lost boy, was a boy that fell from his crib and was not picked up for three days and taken to Neverland. But Dean had picked Sam up and his mother had picked him up. "But I picked you up Sammy" Sam didn't reply until the fourth night after Dean finished the story.
"The lost boys choose to stay in Neverland," Dean chose to stay with Sam so perhaps they truly were lost boys.
The end
