Snape rushed out the front door of the Malfoy manner like a madman.
"Regulus!" he called out spotting the other young man headed towards the end of the lawn. Regulus turns as Severus rushes to him. "Is it true, is it true that you're leaving. The dark lord will surely kill you!" Snape said between gasps.
Regulus chuckled lightly reaching a hand up to brush a stray strand of hair from his raven haired friends eyes, than bringing his hands down to cup his cheeks. "Staying here anyway would make me a dead man, if not in body than in spirit. The dark lord can't win, evil looses, and good vanquishes it. Personally I want to move to the good side. Looks like my brother had the right idea all along."
"Regulus, don't do this, please." Snape pleaded in a chocked whisper "I can't bear to lose you."
"Promise me" Regulus said, his voice now thick with emotion "Promise me you won't forget me" he asked running his hand along the familiar face attempting to smooth out the distressed lines.
"Never. . . I love you."
"Finally . . . after years, you finally utter the three words I've only dreamed of hearing from your lips."
"Regulus please-"
"I'm sorry, I can't, but, I love you Severus. Trust me, even if neither of us make it, I'll always love you. You'll surely die if you stay on this side, you'll probably die on the other side to, but if you must" Regulus bit back a sob "Do it with honor, die in hope of a better future, for the right cause."
Severus reached his hand up to rest atop Regulus' a lone tear stealing down his cheek. "Not now, but soon, after you've left and things die down. I promise, not just for you, but for me, and us."
"Severus, I hope to see you again, someday soon. It'll be too dangerous to contact you for a while, but I will try, I love you."
"I love you, so much." Severus managed the tears flowing freely.
Regulus leaned in gently brushing their lips together. The kiss soon became deeper as their love for each other was shared in that one kiss. So much was said with no words, and so much was left to say although they didn't have the time. With quickly whispered promises to try to see the other again, they took one last look at each other before Regulus apparated away with a faint pop, leaving a distraught, but content Severus in his wake counting the days until they could see each other again.
