Title:
Walk Alone
Fandom: Band of Brothers
Characters:
Winters, Martin
Warnings: beginnings of
Winters/Martin
Johnny Martin was never one to get emotional or sensitive about things. He could get pissed and give snark as good as Leibgott but other than that he kept his emotions under wraps.
Nothing special, really. Many men did that. Including the one that led E - Company: Richard Winters.
Martin had been surprised to know of his first name - he had always been Winters or "Dick". Johnny couldn't help but think "Richard" suited him. Just the way he always carried himself...seemed more..."refined" was the word Webster had used once.
Johnny wasn't ever one to say much, either. Not one to waste words (insults and smart-ass remarks always worth the breath it took to say them, though).
Mainly Martin would watch. Watch his men, his friends, fellow Curahee men, and then...he kept finding himself watching Winters more and more.
He was a kind of enigma - he didn't speak much but his voice was always soothing. Didn't know much about him but the men trusted him, respected him.
But something kept gnawing at Johnny every time he watched the tall red head - he always seemed to walk alone.
Martin would never, ever admit it aloud but something about that fact broke his heart.
