Title: Scars
Fandom: Band of Brothers
Characters: Lipton, Speirs
Warnings: hintings of Lip/Speirs, light angst

The church was warm. So warm.

Compared to the forests of Bastogne this church was heaven - Lipton restrained a snort at the obviousness of the comparison.

He looked around him, the candlelight illuminating what remaining men they had...Not many. Very few Toccoa men left, even less replacements...

Lipton felt a tug of guilt when his mind whispered, 'Those that matter survived.'

The men he had trained with, the ones he had jumped with and the "boys" he had looked after for years now...

But there was one who had come and gone - who hadn't been there in the beginning (not really) but kept showing up in Lipton's life.

Ronald Spiers was feared by many men in almost every company - he had heard the stories - yet when he looked at Carwood...Something in those eyes made him feel...special.

As pathetic as it sounded Speirs made him feel safe, young and without scars - on both his face and heart.

And then he'd offer that damned cigarette...
