"Prim, I need you." I said calling her name. I had this dream every night. Prim, my sister was at the reaping, and her name got called. I volunteered on her behalf, and that choice led to her death. This dream however were my memories, and unlike nightmares, I would never wake up from this one
Drenched in sweat, I became conscience again. The dreams had never gone away, and I fear they never will. Peeta had crawled into bed with me and was looking at me worriedly. He took me hand under the sheets and gripped it tightly with his own.
"I miss Prim so much." I said, daring to say her name.
"I know you do." Peeta said softly. still clutching my hand in a way that dared anyone to come between us. "Katniss, I can't promise that I'll take away your pain, but I will spend every day of my life trying to make you happy again." Peeta said, looking directly at me.
"You've already made me very happy Peeta." I said, my voice getting caught from the knot in my throat.
"Katniss, I love you, and not even Snow could change that." Peeta said.
It was true, Snow tried to pull us apart through death, memory loss, hate, but none of it worked. Nothing can change the fact that our love is real. The nightmares will still come and memories of all that we've lost will always be there. Too many people died for us to just forget about them, but here together, we'll attempt to move forward from the games. Our love will guide us, and with that love, we don't need anyone else, and we can do anything as long as we're together hand in hand, together.
"Katniss, there's something I've been meaning to do, and since we're not facing certain death, now seems like a good time." Peeta said attempting a laugh. Peeta leaned in and brushed my lips with his own. Then growing more bold, he kissed me again, this time with more passion, and I kissed him right back.
