The small room was bathed in warm light coming from the fireplace blazing
on one side of the room. The walls were painted a deep yellow with large,
round windows edged in polished oak wood. Beneath the window was an old,
carved desk littered with large leather bound volumes and old parchments.
The room was lit by numerous hand-dipped candles throughout the room.
There were two comfortable armchairs near the fire for guests, because he
had many. On side tables there were mementos from previous travels and
above the mantelpiece were two portraits of family members. The doorways
were circular and leading from one room to another were beautifully carved
archways. There were rafters on the ceiling and the floors were covered
with terra cotta tiles. The entire place spoke of warmth. This was a
hobbit hole, and that means comfort.
