Jamie looked around her and couldn't believe her eyes. The words still echoed in her mind. Remission. A miracle. She couldn't believe that after so many years, her miracle had come true. Remission. The word – those nine letters – were her savior. She looked around the small doctor's office, pushing her hair gently behind one ear. She glanced to her left and gave a gentle squeeze to the hand of the man she loved most in the world.
Landon looked out in front of him, his eyes cloudy, his mind filling with so many different thoughts he didn't know where to start. Half of his mind wanted to scream with joy. The other half – the cynical half – kept telling himself that he knew it couldn't be true. That after all of his praying, after all of his waiting – Jamie was better. Well, maybe not better, but definitely on the right track. He looked over at her and couldn't help but smile – the joy on her face was enough to light the room. The two locked eyes, and smiled at one another. Big, huge grins crossed both of their faces, and they could see the joy in one another's eyes. This was their prayer. This was the answer to everything they had ever wanted. They were full to the brim with happiness, and they both knew that one more drop would cause them to burst. They thanked the doctor and walked out to a new life – a life filled with hope, faith, love, and the prospects of again enduring whatever came their way.
