A/N This is just a one-shot I did while I was bored. Enjoy and Review! BrambleXSquirrel with a hint of BrambleXLeaf for NO REASON WHAT-SO-EVER! Set around pre-New Prophecy: Twilight

"Brambleclaw!" The young warrior's cry for help echoed around the clearing as hungry flames swallowed Squirrelflight whole. Black smoke puffed through the forest, causing many to flee for their lives. One lean tabby warrior held his ground, staring at the hot monster rising up above him.

"Brambleclaw!" Again the cry rang through the forest, this time from Sandstorm, the warrior who had been patrolling with him. She beckoned for him with her tail.

"She is in the hands of StarClan now."

No. Brambleclaw turned back to the fire, and the flame coloured she-cat that it held. He wasn't letting his love go that easily. If he jumped into the fire, they could join the stars together. If he left, he would be forever grieving. His mind was made up. He tensed to spring, but as he fell down into a crouch, the fire was gone, leaving only ashes and a wide path of destruction. A voice whispered in his ear.

"You must live, Brambleclaw. We only wanted her." He looked up to see a tortoise-shell she cat looking down on him.

"Spottedleaf!"

She nodded. "Squirrelflight belongs with StarClan. There is no room for her in the forest. You must stay. She will be watching you, always. For now you must love another."

"I will only love her." Brambleclaw's words were true, although he never remembered speaking them before. Death always seemed to bring love.

"Destiny, Brambleclaw." Then the old Medicine Cat disappeared, leaving a golden she in her place.

"I will never forget you." Squirrelflight rasped her tongue behind his ear one last time, before departing in synchronization with a howl from her tabby love, which was soon joined by Leafpool. After what seemed a moon, the young Medicine Cat spoke in a grief laced voice.

"Everything has a reason."

"I don't get it," Brambleclaw replied. "We were destiny. StarClan said that kin of Tiger and Fire would harmonize the forest. How can I when Fire's kin is dead?"

"Squirrelflight isn't Fire's only kin."

As he realized what she meant, the tabby looked into Leafpool's amber eyes, and for a moment, everything made sense. Spottedleaf's words rang in his head 'For now you must love another'. He pressed his nose against her warm brown flank, more out of grief than anything else.

"Everything for a reason. Let StarClan guide you. You must promise me."

"I promise."

A/N please note that none of the above prophecies actually exist. Happy Easter if you celebrate, have a nice day if you don't. Review if you want more BrambleXLeaf!
